I was going through an old album today and found a bronze/copper Russian 5 kopek coin. Bigger than our large cents. date is 1805. I would guess VF30-ish. Can't post pictures yet because I am not set up to do so. Can anyone tell me the approximate value? I got it at a Russian flea market back in the 90s.

Numista has listings for two different mints in 1805: Ekaterinburg (EM) and Suzun (KM) I guess the two big questions are: What condition is it in? and is it authentic? There are unfortunately lots of fakes of Russian coins so it's hard to even guess without taking a look. My 1995 Krause Guide has them at $10 VG to $80 XF for EM and $12.50 VG to $100 XF for KM mint. 1805 doesn't look to be a scarce year, so prices are similar for other years of the type. Modern prices are probably quite a bit higher (if authentic, of course), especially in the higher grades.
Mine is from the Ekaterinburg mint. I picked it up for no more than$5 during the fall of the Soviet Union. (I used to be a Russian interpreter). Thanks for the quick response!
Over the past 20 years, the prices of these coins have increased. I have never seen them cheaper than $ 60. And this is the minimum price. And there is another problem: the export of such coins outside the Russian Federation is a criminal offense. We have very strict legislation. Now such coins are exported from Russia only by smugglers. Of course, the risk increases the price.
As you can see, 1805 EM 5 kopek is known to have a mule of 1806 eagle. This is quite scarce. https://www.m-dv.ru/en/monety-rossii-1700-1917/kid,16/mid,4/nid,34/types.html Price difference is easily 20x or more so a photo definitely will help.
