I seen a coin rated 69 and it had visible scratches and wonder WTH.There has to be changes--My opinion
What is your understanding of a non-profit organization versus a regular company? How would the status of a company being a non-profit affect the grading process?
If they are die polishing lines then the coin is as struck. Photos or BS. This hobby is dependent on a continuous education. If you don't know how coins are made and struck then you will not understand what you are looking at.
I think grocery stores and car washes should be non-profit. Come to think of it, maybe we should include Subway, Dominos, Buffalo Wild Wings and Jersey Mike's to that list.
If grading companies were non profit the result would be an abomination. Any motivation or desire to get it right is entirely eliminated in a non profit environment.... I would agree there are problems that have arisen, but we have to use our influence as a customer base to effect any real change.
I've gotta take exception to this. People can be motivated by what they're doing, independent of profits, and people in a for-profit environment can still get it wrong. Yeah, "let's all work together for the common good, money doesn't matter" is a fairy tale. Unfortunately, so is "when your actions have dollar-and-cent repercussions, you learn to do the right thing."
Non profit ? your kidding me right ? I think PMG has a clause in there contract that anyone that works for the company can't be involved in collecting but I am sure some have a small stash hidden under a tree...LOL
I believe that most collectors have some kind of understanding of the minting process-- The more you love it --the more you learn---some people think that just because they been collecting for years makes them a expert!
Scratches on the coin or holder? Non profit grading service (NPGS) That's when you DIY in a 2x2 paper or plastic wrap your choice.... IF not for profit, you wouldn't have any grading services.
Actually I photo coins, when the coin is unforgiving you'll never see the photo. You are missing part of the education if you think you saw a wiped or cleaned surface on a graded 69. I don't believe it. Photos or it didn't happen.
TPG as a non profit is just a plain old head slapper. I don't even know where to begin. What I find to be an abomination is the fact that we have to pay for a basic necessity of life, water. Will the powers that be somehow figure a way to charge us for air next?
