I've been looking on the internet for this coin to see if I could find any like mine. Just wanted to compare them but could not find any ( Thanks Google! ) Mine is silver and I saw a few silver ones, but look at mine and you will see the liberty bell and the outline of the United States is stamped onto the obverse of the coin. Did this come from the mint like this or did someone do it on their own? Thanks ahead of time guys!
Your Cent was plated. It's also been Counterstamped. It's a novelty coin. Try googling novelty coins and something like it should pop up.
Sorry guys my microscope could not get a good picture using it's light cause the coin is too shiny, so I had to shut it's light off and use a flashlight
It was plated and then stamped (or vice versa) by someone outside of the mint. Not an error but a novelty.
You'd be surprised if all the novelty coins that are available in today's market. It's quite a selection, all Counterstamped, some single and others like yours, with two Counterstamps.
Yep. Like @expat showed, this was an aftermarket novelty piece created outside the mint, for the US Bicentennial in 1976 (which happens to have been the year I started collecting). This particular one got plated somehow- chromed, perhaps. It has no numismatic value but might have some minor value as a novelty piece, if anyone was interested enough in it. They did zillions of 'em, though, so they often turn up in change and in all sorts of places.

Those counter stamps are cool to find. It gave me a whooa, what the heck when I found this one. Then bring it up close enough to see what it is and it was quite the let down.
I went to the bank to get some rolls of small dollars. I didn’t want any customer rolled coins because I’d been shorted with quarters, Canadian coins and Tokens. She gave me three rolls and it wasn’t until I got home that these rolls were from String & Son. One roll had John Quincy Adams, another James Madison and the third said George Washington but has 2 enders. I opened the John Quincy Adams and there were 25 Brilliant Uncirculated Gold Looking Dollars. Someone is already selling one roll with different presidents on eBay for $39.95. I think I should sell the open roll and keep the other two. Any suggestions?
