I went thru another two boxes of halves last night. Got 3 90% and 3 40%.

I have picked up 30+ in the last ten boxes in under three weeks.

The average has been a pretty steady 3 per box for me. This is from three banks.

I also have been filling two albums with some very nice coins. It's amazing how many gem coins can be found. Also finding 79D and 90D coins in keeper quality with only a few light marks.

First I cull silver and then search for pristine edge coins and then sort and compare with the coins for each year and cull. Then I compare with what I already have and make a decision.

    Happy Hunting!

Got another $400 worth of rolls from another branch of the same bank.
This time out of 800 coins just got one 1964 and one 1966.
Also a few no initials reverse 1982P and 1983P.
Some of the rolls look like they have been stored for decades in the vault.
Especially nice are the 1983P coins, 1999P and 2000P.

I would have thought that you would have found something in that many hand rolled coins. Maybe they are some that another searcher went through.

Wow! Today I picked up $560 in halves from my local bank, and found 1 Franklin, 124 90% Kennedys, and 5 40% Kennedys. Also 4 2002 or later. Hit the motherload.

Also ordered 2 boxes last week, and out of $990 (one box was a roll short), only found 2 40% Kennedys.

I was truly amazed today. I think it's just some poor old lady that doesn't know what she had. The rolls that had the 90% coins in them were real old wrappers ("Cleveland Holding Company" they said).

I've had much better luck in just taking rolls that banks had in stock than from ordering boxes.

    Quarters

I have been through four boxes. No silver. Today, you will only find the very occasional silver dime or quarter in machine rolled coins as well as most customer rolled coins. Halves or nothing. Stick to halves unless you are a glutton for punishment.

Where do you guys get customer-wrapped rolls? I never heard of a bank that doesn't open up the rolls and counts the coin.

Eddie, are you referring to just halves? I get customer wrapped rolls all the time in lesser denominations, even some back that I've previously traded. I know they're mine cause I purposefully reroll with all obverse in one direction. When I spot that, I quit looking.

I go to various Phoenix AZ area banks- Wells Fargo, B of A, Chase, etc. I'll return, say, 100 rolls, and they only open 1 random one to make sure they're all real coins- yet they don't even count them. I bought 3 rolls from a bank a few weeks ago, and one was noticeably larger than the rest. The teller even said, "looks like you're getting a couple extra bucks in that one". Sure enough, had $12. The Wells Fargo banks in the area here don't have coin counters at the branches. They'll give you cash on the spot for rolls, without opening and counting them, or even taking your name and account number. Seems weird to me.
