On the 13th October I sent about $5,000 of banknotes to PMG in Sarasota from the UK. Once posted via a tracked and signed for service, they immediately disappeared and no tracking information was ever recorded once they were received by the Royal Mail. I am not convinced substantive efforts have been made to investigate but RM now accept they are either lost or stolen. They do not provide anything but nominal insurance so an 85% loss to me and an expensive lesson learnt. I am posting my submission form with the serial numbers in the hope that anyone here with an eye on the market may see them resurface for sale. The note uploaded is the actual one missing.
That's a tough pill to swallow, marbury. I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune. This one is special so I'll remember it and keep it in mind while I'm shopping auctions. Best of luck to you. Bruce
Sorry to hear they have not turned up - I am sure that the collectors will do their best to prevent these notes being sold on without you being informed and hopefully reunited with these nice notes. Steve
I know for me that Scots £20 is going to stick out like a sore thumb if it pops up - that has to be one of the, if not the, nicest examples of that around.
Omg dude (or ma’am) I am so sorry! That is such an amazingly beautiful note! I will definitely keep my eye out and report it immediately if I see it. I really hope you get your stuff back. Whoever stole it is scum.
I just received a cheque from Royal Mail for £60 as compensation when I was supposed to be insured to £250. So RM are also stealing off me too! I am so gutted and these are some of the best high value notes I ever had.
Wow! Seriously?! Do you have some sort of label or receipt that shows you paid for £250 insurance? When it comes to the law usually a receipt is more than enough proof to validate your claim.
They just talk about small print and terms and conditions......250 is no use anyway when you lost several thousand. Feel like throwing the cheque in the trash.
Do you think it might be possible that it got misplaced/lost but that eventually it will be found and sent on? Ive heard crazy stories about letters being delivered like 20 years late. I know that doesn’t really help but maybe it wouldn’t take 20 years in your case. Perhaps it’s still lost in transit but will be found. If I were you I think there is still some hope. Maybe not a bunch but enough to have some hope.
Posted 13th October from UK to Sarasota. Supposed to be a tracked service and once they received it over the counter and gave me the tracking number it was never tracked again, not even once. So probable never made out of the North West UK, let alone USA.
It is quite likely an employee or employees (corrupt postal workers tend to work together as syndicates) at the location the notes were sent from snagged the package as a result of realizing the declared value or how much it was insured for. Unfortunately, declaring the value of a package's contents (which I realize may have been required for sending internationally) or buying extra insurance is itself inherently risky as it sends a message to postal workers that there are items of notable value within said package. I send notes at times domestically and often use flat rate priority boxes to do so. I never buy additional insurance in case of loss such as to avoid having to reveal and signify I am sending anything of value. A couple of times I've put in a piece of rubbish to rattle in the box such as to try and make it seem like the contents in the box are of no real value (or at least to give the impression there aren't notes or coins inside). To this day I have not had a problem sending items in priority boxes but time and time again it is reported that highly insured packages containing gold coins or what have you go missing (whether from USPS or Royal Mail). I can't help but ponder if these same packages would have made it just fine to their destinations if the senders didn't buy additional insurance and give away that there are items of notable value inside.
I made the Rookie mistake of telling the woman it was v high value.....the thing is that RM management do not even bother speaking to her.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh In complete state of shock! 09:37pm Item received at Sorting OfficeLOS ANGELES, United States of America
BREAKING NEWS...................item just been logged in Los Angeles.........wrong side of the country but this must be very positive news!!!!!!!!!!
I was right! Congrats man!! Hopefully after all the worry, stress and sadness you’ve gone through with all of this is finally over.
Lol! I would be too. XD I knew that eventually it would all get sorted out but I just wasn’t sure how long it would take. Now here is the question: Do you have to return the insurance money they paid you once the item is delivered? Or do you get to keep it?
