Holy Moly!!! That ATG III quarter stater is dazzling! As well the Iona el is a beauty. And I have been looking for a nice Bosphorus coin for a while now (not in gold though:troll:)

95 coins from 27 centuries of gold coins!.....great coins @panzerman - always fun to see what you will post next! I lived in Bologna for a couple of years - although these weren't much in circulation at that time. :)Best wishes for 2021!

Love the Honorius. Not too many victories for that Augustus. Funny how the propaganda is still working even at the time of Rome’s steep decline.

    Exquisite examples, all!

The papal gold scudo is a fine example of late Renaissance art. The quarter gold stater of Macedon is lovely as well. The hekte EL 1/6 stater is a wonderful miniature work of archaic art.

I will take one of each!

John, That's a spectacular haul :jawdrop:! The two Byzantine solidi, # 4 & 9 are my favorites . The Honorius tremissis must be one of the finest known, certainly FDC.

Thanks Ryro! I was lucky to get the Quarter Stater/ the Hirschnachfolger auction photo was of poor quality/ the actual coin was from previous Nomos event/ that photo was more alluring/ so I got it as a "unsold lot". The EL Hekte was from CNG sale....

Thank you Gavin:happy: Agreed/ Honorius was a incompetent Emperor.
That Honorius Tremissis was featured in a obscure auction "Golden Lion". I won it for 900 euros/ also got a rare AV Koln Goldgulden from them.

    Thanks AL!
The Tiberius Solidus looks 3Xbetter then photo, same with the Justinian II/ the Honorius one is finest I have seen. The deal of the century though was the Merovingian AV Triens.

Nice group I particularly like the Alexander quarter stater and the Commodus from the Kingdom of the Bosporus. The two portaits on that coin are very sharp and the color looks really good.

Gold is a wonderful coin medium. Yours are all super, John. Personally, I like the Iceni, Makedon, and Ionia...
