That is a little high for a .50 cent roll

 

OMG! People are CRAZY!

 

WOW!!!!!!!!! And there are 12 bids with the opening price @ $0.99. Sometimes it is beyond my concept of rational thinking that people do in coin collecting. Is the goal to be the "first" to have a roll, or do they think these are going to be that valuable? Also this still has over eight hours to go. I put it in my "watch" section to see what it finally goes for.

Yesterday I read an article on the internet and if I remember correctly I found it on a thread here. Anyway, it said it would be quite awhile before banks would have any of these. It is because banks now have more pennies than they know what to do with because of the economy. People are empting their penny jars (that made it okay to use the word "pennies" earlier) for cash. I also read once that IHC's were rarely seen in circulation a few years prior to the depression, then a lot were seen during the depression. Again people emptying their penny jars. The masses emptying their penny jars is not good, seriously hard times upon us for awhile. No doomsday or end to capitalism, but a lot of good people having a tough time right now.

 

billions of cent will be out this year. the only cent which can move up is the proof version. other than that. those will be junk.

same thing happened with the jefferson change, they had some early coins released at a special event and they went for $30 or more each, now they are worth about 5 cents!

Yes, the copper-tin-zinc cents will be issued in the Mint Sets and Proof Sets, but if you want the copper-coated zinc cents it looks like you'll have to find them in circulation.

 

Just wait... Somewhere, someone is gold plating some of these and putting an Obama sticker on the obverse. "It will be a rarity just like the 1909-S V.D.B.! Act now and we'll send you all four designs."

 

I saw that listing on ebay this morning, someone sure wants that roll bad. The single coins are also going from $3 up. I can wait untill they get here, which may be a few weeks. I do know someone in Ky who is going to check there banks to see if they have them, if so i won't mind paying face plus shipping on a few rolls. but not $3 a coin or $100 a roll. Lets see, if I could get a box for $25 plus $12 shipping then give some away and still sell 10 or 20 rolls on ebay for the cheap price of $20 or$25 a roll I could buy something that will go up in value (LOL)

Peter, I we can work it out - I am expecting several boxes of each 2009 Lincoln type through out the coming year - as I get them and this "brief" hysteria settles down some I would be glad to honor requests for a couple, or 4 to 6 rolls as/when they become available for Coin Talk Members if they would pay S/H - that is if we can work it out??

we really need those crazy people or insiders to put every mint coin products higher and higher. so that our coin collections will worth a lot. not bad. isn't it?.

p.s. remember. e-bay got a lot of same people with many accounts. or with friends and relatives accounts to support itself by bidding up a certain coin up or down. and then gradually sell the coins they want it at a better price. simple as that. why not try to sell your one cent roll?. if how much you can make it?.

 

It's always been that way. Some people just have to be the first, at any cost, to get the newest product or toy, and are willing to pay anything to be first. Look at the people who camped out at stores for days to get the first Wii or X-Box. This goes back in my memory to 1964 when people fought to be the first to buy one of the new Mustangs. And more recently when folks pre-ordered and paid nearly double for a new Smart automobile. The rest of us, the wise ones, just sit back, wait a few weeks or months, and then go get the same thing for a normal, or even reduced price.

Now if the cents were a limited edition that might be different, but I would guess that there will be somewhere around a billion of each design made. That's enough that every man, woman and child in the U.S. could have three of them.
