I was going to guess that. I'll give you my theory. They never saw color laid on like that, on that top one. It looks "abrupt." Too pretty. Too perfect for comfort. Neither have I seen toning like that on any silver half, FWIW. But that's how they do it when they don't want their plastic backing the toning. Crack it out and send the plastic back to them and attach a note informing them where they can stick it, that's what I'd do.
Well, I just told them not to holder it as I was going to send it elsewhere anyway once they called it QC. I picked that coin from a cheap plastic set up in Montana when I went to visit my cousin. Would have been nice to see it in an MS PCGS holder. I have a membership credit at NGC, will see how they view it.
I find all TPG's like to play god so to speake.....Anacs did with me on 2 1938 D buffalos! 1 graded a 67 the other a 68....I gave them the omm and rpm's of each....they said no that they were not varieties.....I beg to differ....as I can tell you what any 1938 D variety is without looking it up...the 67 was a D/D the 68 D/S. The FS- 005 . Both coins would of been pretty pricy in the grade and variety. Of course they wouldn't put the variety on the slab. And when you pay $7 @ piece to get a coin graded you get a $7 results.
