Will this one slab?

Going through my 1910-'s (see also http://www.cointalk.com/forum/t34312-32/), I ran across this one again. The more I look at it, the more I like it. As wild as my pics look, the coin is probably wilder. I doubt that PCGS would grade it, but would NGC? Any comment about the grade also welcome.

might be an ANACS special... I dont think the top 2 would grade it. How dark are those dark spots?

    I have doubts:

    read as AT.

The spot are pretty much the color you see or maybe a little bluer. They are not spots as carbon spots, but just spots of color.

The spot on the obverse @ 2 o'clock is the one I would be concerned about. Even Lincoln is looking at it!

how strong is the remaining luster?

Absolutely no problem on the obverse including the "spots" - every one of them. I would not call it "remaining".
It may be a little questionable one the red part of the reverse.

Dick you're prpbably gonna think I'm nuts, but that is one of the finest coins I have ever seen you post. Based on the pics it is virtually mark free and has an wonderful strike. The color wouldn't bother me one bit.

My only concern would be the surface of the fields. May just be the pics but it looks there might be just the very beginning stages of corrosion from the toning. If that is not there than I would submit that coin in a NY second. I'll be surprised if ti doesn't come back at least a 66 and probably a 67.

    Doug,

    You are right. I do.

Too many ticks to be a 67. Wonderful strike - absolutely, but I have several better most notable my 1917- that PCGS BB'ed. 65/66 I could believe.

When you say "fields" are you referring to the obverse of reverse? In hand, I am much more concerned about teh reverse than obverse.

Good, glad to see it went as expected. Restores my faith in my judgement :D

I agree, it is the reverse that has me concerned. I'd still submit it to PCGS, even though I hate PCGS. I just want to see if I am right. Hell I'll pay the fees for ya ;)

This type toning looks like some sort of dip residue to me. I not real familiar with all the different types of copper toning but going by the pics, don't look right. May look much different in-hand. JMO

Ther is no way that coin will be red. It is closer to brown than it is red, but I think it will make RB.

I think the strike is wonderful. I don't know how to interpret the toning. Looks like the cents Leeg was posting on post some lincolns. I think you are least likely to get a BB at NGC, but I think both would grade it. Send it in. I am very curious what it would get??
