No - a weak strike coin should have light or missing design elements on both sides. If there's missing design elements on one side only, it's probably from a grease filled die. Photos would help......
Let me ask you this. If you put a coin in a vise, would it be possible for the pressure to be greater on one side than the other?
While the striking pressure on both sides is the same...the wear state of the obverse vs. reverse die may not be. So...if one side is struck with a more worn die you may get one side that looks weaker.
I completely agree. I was trying to come up with a reason why a coin might look weak on one side only. This seemed the most likely outside of some kind of PMD.
