    Ooooh...I don't know, man.

I'm not a Washington expert either, so I want to do a little homework on these. At first blush, the S looks okay, but the D is funky.

My trusty PCGS Guide to Counterfeit detection says that the D should be square, tall, and angular. Also, genuine 1932-D quarters often have a lot of die polish on the reverse.

The S mintmark should be square and boxy. The serifs are parallel.

Again, nothing definitive, but I'm sticking with my original call.

    Jack,

I have had several 1932-S Washington Quarters and nothing really stands out on it to make me believe that it is not genuine! I can't say much about the 1932-D but the Mintmark looks like it could have come off of a Dime. I can't recall ever seeing any Washington Quarter with a "D" Mintmark that small. We could really tell much more with some close-ups.

    borgovan,

Have you ever noticed how ironic that statement from the "PCGS Guide to Counterfeit detection" really is???!!! How can a Mintmark be all of these (square...tall and angular) at the same time??!!

I think the first one is real the D MM seems to be sitting in a whole which is one of the diagnostics another is die polish marks , the second one I'm not so sure of one way or the other , IMO . Don't go by my advice because I'm no expert on these and the PCGS bOOK IS NOT THE BEST AT these '32s .

The D looks a bit funky to me as well, but those are about 2 years too new for me to really be able to help I'm afraid :(

Here is my 32-S but it is raw also so it doesn't really help!

Jack, we really need closeup photos of the mm to give any real advice.

I'm not an expert by far, but nothing jumps out as me as being off.

The 32-S looks good to me. Check wher I highlighted. Is there a light die crack running through there? That is usually a good mark for a diagnostic.
The 1932-D I cant tell for sure, the D does look odd.

Jack take your highest powered loupe and try to see if there is any space between the D - MM and the field of the coin , if there's a gap it's altered .

    The S is fine.
I have researched this date/mint for some time now--look at the back of the eagles head. There is a die crack running out of it.
There are 2 dies that have the die crack in that place---the one die crack goes down (the same as this one IMHO), and the other one goes alittle more higher.

On this one the mintmark looks filled, or almost doubled in some cases.
On the other die the mintmark looks re-punched, but is just a case of a deep punch.

Rusty, when I first saw it I was sure it was a RPM :high5:, but others convinced me it was just a part of the mintmark die. I noticed on Jacks that it seem to have the little blob on the right hand side of the S near the middle also. I have more magnified photos. but that doesn't help Jack.:D He needs a microscope!
