Roman Collector's missed Faustina denarius hammered for 475 euros, certainly a high price for a common-looking coin! From different dies both sides than the Bologna spec. cited by Strack 494 and illustrated by him on his pl. VII, already mentioned by Roman Collector.

I have to admit that I overlooked this coin in the sale, though Naumann's text correctly signaled its rarity. However I would not have bid 500 euros for it anyway! I happen to have the same coin but with FAVSTINA not FAVSTINAE in the obv. legend, Strack 509, again recording only one spec. (Sofia), likewise illustrated on p. VII, from different dies than mine.

This rev. type of Faustina is usually labeled CONCORDIA. PVDICITIA on a couple of denarius dies may well just be an engraver's error. The same issue also contained a quite similar PVDICITIA type, standing left raising veil with one hand and skirt with the other, Strack 508, again ill. on pl. VII.

I think the comment was meant to be silly and tongue in cheek and not brazen like it came off.
And this coming from me, the guy who tells jokes like a shot gun. Most Beebes miss, but done hit the target.

Perhaps it was just as well to let this one go, @Roman Collector ?
Coins are great, but peace of mind and a good family life is many times better, in my opinion.

The market has been very hot this year, and what goes up tends to go back down. Perhaps we will see better buying options in the years to come. I hope so. I haven’t added a Norwegian coin to my collection since spending 1500 $ on this coin in 2012. But I have several unsucsessful bids during those 8 years. :)
