1970 25c die clash?

I hope my pics show more detail but the pattern resembles the proof on Ebay yet read that chances if that are nill. The strike is light but raised when you look at angle pics. Is this possible on a business strike or am I wrong about die clash?....Again ..lol

Overstrike? Where? You might be wasting a lot of money sending it to a grading service.

The pattern matches the last two pics of the overstruck Canadian coin with a floral or leaf design. I added the two pics in 1st post. Coin was in circulation and shows it but with loop it matches up especially under the motto on obverse. I just have to know...lol

 

I'm not Sal. Perhaps your hallucinations about an overstrike extend to the rest of us as well.

 

I'm not seeing anything unusual. Any costs to send this in for grading would be a waste in my opinion.

 

That Quarter was struck over a Canadian silver planchet.

Waste of money to send that coin in. It's a quarter. Nothing unusual about it.

 

This is what my pics can't show and just wondering if it had reached circulation, after 50 years would it not have been worn down is all. First pic is of the proof and second is of quarter I had the question on. The similarities of pattern plus that whatever the pattern is, it is raised off surface. That is what had me wondering...

The 1970-S overstruck on a silver Canadian quarter came from a time period when a lot of “spectacular” errors left the SF mint. The strong consensus is that these coins had “help”. If you do a little research, you’ll see that the quarter overstruck on the Canadian quarter was part of a group of coins found in a Safety Deposit Box and sold by the state of California. It WAS NOT released into circulation, nor were other San Francisco “errors” from the early-mid 70s.


Your coin wasn’t struck in San Francisco. Then there is the other minor detail pointed out by @paddyman98. Your coin is clad. How can it be overstruck on a Canadian quarter that was silver??


If you’re going to continue to CRH for errors, I would recommend taking the $60 +/- you would spend for authentication and use it for some numismatic books or put it towards some ANA seminars. That would be a better use of the money, IMO.

 

research error coins first with books, websites and such, learn what you have before you make a thread saying you have something when you don't

 

I would not send it to a TPG it would be a waste of time and money, don't do it. Good luck
