    Alexandria, Egypt. Salonina Tetradrachm KOΡNHΛIA CAΛΩNEINA CEB, draped bust right / Elpis (Spes) standing left holding flower and hem of skirt, palm before, LIΔ behind. Year 14 = 266-267 AD.

    I know I post this piece a lot, but it fits, plus it's my only ancient gold/electrum besides a small (but larger than this) Indian fanam. Almost always described simply as gold or AV, the gold Sumatran coins are actually a (apparantly natural?) composition of electrum; ~70% gold, ~25% silver, and the rest in trace metals with the majority of copper.
