    Hello, everyone. @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix has asked me to perform the random drawing, which I have done with my favorite online random number generator, based on the list he provided below.

    Now, I'm not fully up to speed on the process he used for assigning these numbers, nor have I fully followed the thread.

    (I only knew the answer to exactly ONE question myself. At least I did get one right.) ;)

    So do please direct any questions to him. I'm just the number-cruncher here. I will ask the winner not to celebrate until @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix has certified the results.

    Here is the list:

    It appears Fortuna has favored Number 62, and it seems that based on that, @Parthicus is our winner here. But wait for @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix to certify the win.

    Cheers! :)

    Congratulations @Parthicus !!! Well done!!
    Thank you to all who helped!

    When I looked at the list - all I heard in my head was:

    @Clavdivs - don't feel bad- the odds were definitely not in my favor, either, though those folks who made the list of finalists worked hard to be there, and good for them, I say. Ocat did a good job in creating a challenging quiz. Every time I've attempted a trivia contest (rather than just a random drawing one), folks always got the answer(s) too quickly. It's a hard balance to strike: you want to make it hard enough to be challenging, without making it impossible.

    Oh I am thankful for the contest and glad that someone who did very well won the prize. I was just chuckling at myself when I saw the list... just humor..

    I know. I chuckled, too, ‘cause I didn’t have a prayer in this competition!

    Congrats to the winner and as I said, I wasn't eager to win and I didn't participate hoping to get the voucher, just for fun and study. It was just a question (in regards to VENUS VICTRIX) as my answer was based on OCRE, like they listed this type, cronologically

    About the Semis question, applying a filter on OCRE to list all the Semis denomination cronologically
    http://numismatics.org/ocre/results..."Semis" AND material_facet:"Bronze"&start=100
    Here it lists only 1 Semis minted under Decius and then a few from Carus, Probus and Diocletian.

    The weight seems to increase in time but
    http://numismatics.org/ocre/id/ric.5.dio.202
    The 3 examples listed in OCRE weight between 2.77 g and 3.72 g. I think this is closer
    Probably they were wrong, who knows, but this was my source and this weight range looks like a Semis.

    Message #14 before the draw:
    "
    Yes absolutely. Here are the other 7 (because we had a tie):
    @ambr0zie
    @cmezner
    @dougsmit
    @furryfrog02
    @Johndakerftw
    @Parthicus
    @Roman Collector"

    But I got 2 entries, so did furryfrog02, the other members from this list got 5.

    I repeat, don't get me wrong, I didn't enter this with the idea to win a prize.

    Congrats @Parthicus........
    I actually surprised myself and answered 9 questions in 10 mins at quarter to 2 in the morning and got 1 wrong!....I knew it was Lyon but I typed Rome and blame it on the single malt!.....Wish I'd had time to sit down and research the questions properly but as usual everything last minute!.....@Ocatarinetabellatchitchix thanks for setting up the quiz great idea!

    If that was addressed to me and not the Almighty, I say again, please direct any and all questions to @Ocatarinetabellatchitchix, our kind host.

    I’m merely the guy who pulled the random number out of the hat, so to speak, and otherwise have little knowledge about nor oversight regarding this particular contest.

    (*Had too many other distractions, or maybe I would have participated more- as a contestant- not that I’d have had much of a chance, without doing a lot of homework!)

    I've got notified by some members that I underlined two different answers on question # 4 about the semis. That's my mistake. The correct answer was only Trajan Decius. So it did changed the results of the TOP TEN. But I didn't want to penalize anyone, so I gave 2 tickets instead of 1 to the participants who became number 11, 12 and 13...o_O

    Ha I must’ve done worse than I thought...I will have to review my answers when I get home. Hopefully tonight. If not, then tomorrow.
    :) It was a fun contest though and I learned a few things so it is still a win in my book.

    Wow, this was an unexpected nice surprise this morning! (And also, finally a _good_ surprise in 2020.) I only entered at the last minute, but I had fun researching my answers, and the $100 CDN credit will certainly be useful. That's, what, about $5 US? (Sorry, as a US citizen I am legally required to make fun of Canada occasionally, no matter how unjustified.) But seriously, I am surprised, humbled, and honored to win this contest, and I promise to post a thoroughly researched post on whatever I apply this credit to in the auction.

    Since this was a merit-based contest requiring research and work, with only a small element of random luck at the end, I’d say this is no time for humility.

    I’d say it’s time for a victory lap, or a triumphal march through Rome, at the very least. Who’s got some laurels to make a wreath out of? ;)

    (Laurel wreath and a COVID mask. Now there’s a sartorial combination!)

    Congrats Parthicus!!!

    I was shocked to see my name five times on the list. Crazy!!

    I knew practically none of the answers beforehand, so I appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the Roman world.

    Thanks so much!!
