Jazzcoins; check the official Red book in the section of Colonial Issues, there are rare shapes, including the Carolina elephant tokens, and Granby coppers with very high prices.

Carlos i wish it was something for your sake ,but it is damage sorry. I know it can be frustrating when you don;t find errors it could take months before you find anything of significance That;s the way the error world works.

I searched for weeks and months before i came across a doubled die ,and it wasn't even a major one The coin you posted is post mint damage that could not have happened at the mint.

Keep searching you will find something of significance one day

    Carlos,

You can't compare Colonial issues that were minted on irregular shaped planchets on coinage presses that are like night and day when compared to modern coin presses, with the issues of modern coins today.

The methods of manufacture are totally different and what happened during the striking of colonial coinage has almost no bearing on coinage minted today.

    Your premise is way off.

Just a friendly thought....The time you waste on these coins that are junk can better be spent looking for good stuff.

    Thanks,
    Bill

I feel the need to apologize... I'm sorry Carlos, I was a little harsh in post #22. So, I'm sorry.

There is just a lot of misinformation flying around lately

Carlos; are you saying that this coin was lying around since the colonial age and then ended up being struck with this 1976 die? Also you mention The Nova Constellatio Patterns, what does it have to do with this coin?

The nova constellatio patterns are every were on oberse and reverse. But what is most important right now is this little face on Lincoln's face. The only relation I see is with Jacky Kennedy. But can be a old designed coin with the face of another different person.

Mr Jazzcoins; How serious you are? when you investigate errors in coins. With this one, I'm only in the beginning.

The Nova Constellatio Patterns are identifying specific coins and their patterns. For you to group every coin made with these patterns is just (IMHO) weird. Notice the use of 'decimal notation' to express the equivalent monetary values on the coin below. That's what it was about. Please explain your finding on this matter.

Compare this 1st Relation. On the reverse, later we are going to the oberse. There are other simbols on the reverse.

    Carlos, carlos,

With any error or varieity you have to ask yourself what during the minting process caused this type of irregularity???????
You must answer that question to determine the coins authenticity. If you cannot it's probably not an error.
Trying to link other eras coins to modern coins is virtually useless. I study Lincoln Cents and even with in one year the coins will look different than the previous year - you cannot even begin to compare what you see in a 1976 Lincoln to a coin 250 years ago. Reminds me of the guy on eBay who found the double urns and we kept telling him and telling him but he still saw it so it must be valuable.
Look we don't take questions and determination or errors lightly we want to find out what it is but we must go one step further. We must through argument, experience and knowledge be able to back up our determination with known minting technology's and processes.
We not only know then we know "how we know" - that's what makes the difference in a novice and a specialist. So here it is, your coin was hit by something and is barely worth one cent and I would just throw it in the can and move on to the next one - it might be a real error.
