My best one: I dreamed I was in an arcade playing a coin pusher. To my surprise the coin pusher had Morgan dollars in it, and only required quarters to be inserted. I really wish that was real.
I sometimes dream about finding coins on the ground. In real life, I will pick up any coin I spot on the ground, but in my dreams, there are large amounts of coins just lying there, and I fill my pockets with a mix of common US circulating types, less-common (half dollars etc.) and foreign coins. I remember one dream where I was searching through a box of various knick-knacks and finding foreign coins. The coins were in all sorts of strange shapes and had mysterious writing on them. I've also had dreams where I'm bird-watching, and dreams where I am fossil-hunting (two of my other hobbies).
The best coin dream I've ever had was I bought an old house built pre Civil War. Just after moving in I was in the attic and I found 3 large glass canning jars. All the jars were full and most of the coins were rare or tough to get dates. They were mostly mint state and all totaled they were worth millions. I never sold a single coin. I just added them to my collection. Then I woke up.
Granted, this dream isn't coin-related, but not that long ago, I had a dream about a $500 National Bank Note, one of the major rarities of American paper money. This dream occurred a few decades into the future and centered around a cousin of mine who, in this particular dream, worked at a high school in Ohio. My cousin contacted me on behalf of the school and informed me that the School's library staff discovered one of these notes inside the pages of a donated book. He wanted to know how much the school could realistically expect by selling such a note at auction. Instead, I expressed my interest in procuring the note for my personal collection. Going into great detail, I explained to him and the school the pros and cons of consigning it to an auction house. In the end, they sold it to me under the condition that the proceeds from my purchase would constitute an extremely generous gift to the school. Here's a note similar to the one from my dream.
Strangely I can't recall any coin dreams. But I do sometimes have a dream about finding gold nuggets. I'll be in the woods with my dad or someone else, and see a nice hefty nugget just laying on the bank near a road or a river. I'll pick it up, and sure enough, "Hey, there's another!" Eventually we're just digging with our hands, picking big nuggets out of the dirt and dropping them into buckets. Why oh why can't this dream ever actually happen, just once!? It must come from actual gold panning trips we've had, though in real life we've just found tiny flakes. On one trip we did run across an old one-armed (from polio) prospector who lived in the woods. He produced a 3 Oz nugget from his pocket and let us hold it. That was something!
I've been dreaming lately about coin shows. In the dreams, I'm having all sorts of trouble sorting out trains, buses and hotel rooms only to find that the show is just about over by the time I get there. In an alternate version, I see show cases full of wonderful stuff but when I look more closely, it's all crap.
I know this is an old post from 2018.. But I just laughed reading it again. I actually dream of Metal Detecting and finding a lot of neat silver coins!
