    I want that!

One night a Communist named Rudolph was looking out the window when he said, “It’s going to rain.”

His wife asked, “How do you know?”

“Because Rudolph the Red knows rain, dear.”

I see die clashing at 12:00 on that one! Nice Indian cent, though I'm not so sure of the color. What's the grade?

That is my detailed "smoothed" cent. Didn't notice the clash until after I ordered it. thumbnail_IMG_0340.jpg

    Ain't it purty!

Aha. So my eyesight ain't off, then. I thought the surfaces looked unnatural. But yeah, if the price was right, it's got nice details, and the clash is interesting.

I've heard of "smoothing" with ancients but never with moderns. Is it the same concept?

Yeah, one of the reasons I bought it. It was only ~$10 or so, and a really beautiful IHC in my opinion.

My first coin related Christmas present was from my brother. It was in 1986 and it was the Statue of Liberty commemorative coins. I still have them and they are still in the original mint packaging. Hard to believe a 13 year old would have kept it all together, but here we are 34 years later and I still dig them out and look at them.

Hey, for ten bucks, I reckon I’d have bought that, despite the issue.

Outside. A bird just pooped on my shoulder! Forensic examination indicates it had bluish colored berries for breakfast.

Fortunately it must have been a very tiny bird, since the dump it took on me was also tiny, and it brushed right off (wasn’t all wet and splattery).

I think I once heard somewhere that getting pooped on by a bird is supposed to be good luck, though I’m not sure how that logic computes.

*I’m also not sure how topical or coin-related that is, or whether I should have even shared that particular anecdote in the first place, but maybe you can file it under “amusing”, anyway.
