I recently won lot #250 at the Kolbe & Fanning Auction 158, of numismatic literature, see photos below. The lot consisted of 4 books from the Oxford University School of Archaeology, on Celtic coinage. The book I was most interested in was Coinage of the Atrebates and Regni, by Simon Bean. The estimate on the lot was $100.00, & I managed to get the 4 books for $100.50, including buyers premium & shipping . Did any other CT members score anything from that auction ?
They are not on ancient numismatics but I did pick up 2 items. #1 Collecting in the Renaissance - Interesting topic and a beautifully bound book. Cunnally, John. A facsimile edition, fully annotated, of a remarkable 16th-century volume in the Houghton Library's Printing and Graphic Arts section at Harvard University containing over 1200 fine ink drawings of a collection of ancient Greek and Roman coins. The collection was that of Andrea Loredan of Venice, whose collection was formed mostly in the 1550s and 1560s. An extraordinary work. I finally obtained SNG von Aulock! I am somewhat nervous, as I have not received the invoice. It's my first time being successful in a Kolbe auction. I wish I had won more lots. I think you got a good deal, I paid $50 for just Coinage of the Atrebates and Regni a few years ago.
I have been buying from them for quite a while. Their billing process is still very manual so it takes some time. You won't get an invoice until they have packaged up your lots and create a shipping label. I haven't gotten mine yet either but I'm not worried about it.

Those look like two important resource & research editions. I like the books with special bindings, they are true library books .
As mentioned above, they package first so they can weigh the box to determine postage charges. Then they invoice you. It takes time, and they were away for Thanksgiving holiday. I won two lots for the opening bids. A group of 1960s Glendinings sales - good for provenance research. Also, the very high quality, limited edition (1 of 50 copies) reprint of Svoronos on Athens. Not really my collecting area anymore, but I loved this reprint when I saw it at a coin show a few years ago. Very high-quality plates, nearly equal to the original. I got this for a fraction of the edition's original price.
I have bought tons (probably literally!) of books from them over the years and they are wonderful people and totally reliable, but they are a small operation. Enjoy your new books and be patient. They'll arrive lovingly packed and perfect.
