For some reason, ocassinally a seller that has an impeccable honest reputation... suddenly has a huge slew of undelivered items and stops responding to buyers' attempts to contact him. I always worry that maybe the seller died or is in the hospital or something and nobody has thought to check on his eBay sales... or maybe someone hijacked his user ID and is using it to create fraudulent sales or something. Case in point: http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=hsqmyp&ftab=AllFeedback This guy has perfect feedback from the time he first sold on eBay until last month, then suddenly in the last month he gets 110 negatives... all for non-delivery and non-response. (A large number of neutrals and positives that are really negatives too). What happened? I doubt this guy said "what the heck, time to start scamming people" after years of honest and reliable service... so I have to wonder if either something happened to him (I hope not) or if someone hijacked his user ID (also hope not, but not as bad as the former case). I was really looking forward to these notes too... 2 nice ones from Korea... but seeing what's been going on the last month decided I better not wait too long to open a dispute. I really hope I just get the notes later with an explanation of what suddenly happened... but failing that I have to make sure I preserve my ability to get a refund.
i been a victim on the situation described, where the seller just took the money and ran. Last report i got from Payal was that legal procedings had been undertaken. Not sure of what, if any, outcome was achieved in any of it. .. i never did get any money back from it. Good luck troodon, and lets hope the seller was just under-the-weather, and not dead or an honest seller turned crook.
Well I hope that too. I suppose it's possible he's dead, or an honest seller that suddenly decided to rip people off, or someone hijacked his userID... But maybe he's just sick, in the hospital, having computer problems, or any of many other possible explanations. That would explain the delay at least... in which case hopefully I actually get the notes! If that's the case I'll drop the claim and even withdraw my negative. Second best case, get my money back from PayPal. Will let you know what happens, either way. Really want those notes... if I actually get them will post pics of them here!
Saga concluded, basically. PayPal's policy is to rule in favor of the buyer by default if the seller doesn't respond within 10 days of the complaint, and clearly the seller is either unwilling or unable to respond. However it is also apparently PayPal's policy not to close the claim (even if by their policy, it's clearly going to be ruled in your favor) until 30 days after it is filed. Not wanting to wait a month for my refund, I talked to my bank directly... they were able to reverse the transaction essentially intantly (it showed up on my online statement and became part of my available balance within a few hours). Lesson learned: You have an issue with someone you paid with a credit card or directly out of your checking account, talk to your bank first! They can usually resolve the issue much faster. I still would rather have had the notes, but I guess getting my money back is the second best result out of all of this. Maybe I can find the same notes elsewhere.
glad to hear you at least got your money back! it was the second best outcome with getting your notes the first
The same thing happened to me about a month ago. Guy's name is Jeffery Thompson, and I won an auction for 2 1934 consecutive $50 NY fed. notes. The cost was $202 and change. I am pretty sure I was scammed, user had 0 feedback, so I was taking a chance. Anyway, he sent me a message saying his paypal was having problems and sure enough it did, my payment was returned. So then I foolishly sent a money order. That was almost a month ago, still no notes. I have an address but it is in Tennessee, and I probably won't be able to do anything about it. It sucks to be out $200, but even worse, I really wanted those notes. John
Final update This guy is now NARU'd. So that's it I guess. Will never find out what happened either I suppose. I did find a similar note to what I tried to buy from him though. 1983 10,000 won note from South Korea... the same design that continued until 2000, but before the security thread was woven through the design elements, so have a much better look at the obverse design. Another dragon note! Can't wait for it to show up... will post a pic when it does.
Glad it worked out for you and thanks for posting in case I ever run into this I'll know what to do. Thanks
