I would like to get opinions about this coin currently in auction. Do you like it? Dislike? Let me know!
Absolutely stunning. I prefer purples, blues, and reds, but that one is put together very nicely. Is that one being sold by Heritage?
normally I don't like that kind of toning, but this one seems to pull it off can we get a smaller picture inside the slab?
It is currently in the February Long Beach Sale from Heritage. I have an idea of how much it will sell for. How much do you guys think it will realize?
No idea! lol However, I do know that you should check out my "won this from ebay" thread in the US section
Doctor, doctor tell me the news, Something about it says "I little bit to nice to be real" don't get me wrong it a beaut but thats the first thought I had. I have seen pretty War Jeffs before but never with that much pink and red in the center. Ben
This coin will be in the live auction tonight and has already reached over 25X bid in the internet bidding.
Only one problem, I already own a 1945-S MS67* (Appalachian). Two of my appalachians have already fallen into the duplicate category. Do I want to make this coin number three. I am going to watch the auction for sure and hope my finger doesn't go crazy.
Ben - have you even seen a 1364 franc a cheval issued by the Count Louis De Male in MS64 ? Probably not, but does that mean such a coin doesn't exist ? I see nothing on this coin to make me think it would be AT. But I do see plenty that tells me it should never have received the 67 grade.
Doug, I might have to disagree with you about those statements. If the Appalachians are thought to be AT, then this coin should definitely be suspect. It has a very similar toning pattern and color scheme. Personally, and you know this, I could care less if it is AT or not. Apparently, so does everybody else after seeing the bidding. However, by NGC standards this coin is a solid MS66 that got bumped (market graded) to an MS67*. IMO, the market grading of this coin is very appropriate. In fact, this coin is cleaner than most of the NGC MS67 Jeffersons I own. If PCGS graded this coin, it might not break MS65, but I think they would even give it an MS66 due to the toning, luster, and eye appeal. BTW, do you think the coin I own is AT? Remember, you won't hurt my feelings if you say yes.
DOH ! Brain cramp I guess. My comments about the grade were in regard to your coin Regarding the toning, I have never really agreed with those than think that the toning on the Appalachians is AT.
I like the coin, but the toning doesn't appear natural to my eye. Of course, I'm only going on a picture, and I'd very much like to see the coin in hand -- it is VERY attractive in the photos.
