Hello all. I have a question. I found a 1997 dime that was mis stamped on the front.. (I wish I could find the cord to my cam to upload the pic. ) To describe it, The front is off centered to the right, therefore leaving the left side with a "crescent moon" border. I've googled this mistake and found nothing, so I'm wondering if it's a one of a kind or perhaps one of few? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you. :smile
If the reverse looks normal it sounds like it could be a misaligned die... depending on how off the obverse is... it could have a premium
Yes, the back is normal. (Gah, I wish I could find the cord to my cam to post a pic!!) When compared to a regular dime, it looks like it is offset to the right causing the left side to have a thick border on the middle edge that slims down as it goes around, "crescent moon" shape edge on the left of the dime. LOL I wish I could give a better detailed description.
In order to have any real premium to it, part of the details of the coin must be missing. In other words, it has to be far enough off center that some of the details didn't make it on to the coin. Richard
