1980 S Susan B Anthony dollar

My pictures have not been the best here and I am trying to practice on my photo skills. Anyways this particular coin has a very matte finish like a silver finish and at the top and bottom it looks like silver and in the middle is a small ring of what looks like copper. I will try my best at pics.

It looks like a chemical ate away part of the edge......PMD.

All the others look like most other coins silver color then a copper/brass color, and this coin has obviously top and bottom same color and the middle is obviously different . I will post pics of the front and back as it looks like silver but nothing close to a regular 80 Susan.

PMD is the short way to say Post Mint Damage so it would have occurred after it left the Mint.

 

Ok just googled it . But how could it be if it runs the full circle of the coin?

 

These coins and I have at least a hundred they have top silver and bottom copper. So how can a coin have top silver and bottom and middle copper?

 

I think I may send this one in to get checked.

 

Brian... The Susan B is a copper core clad in copper-nickel. It is a "clad" coin. So you will see a silver-color copper-nickel obverse and reverse and see the copper core at the rim.

I’m saying it’s a 1980 Susan B Anthony dollar I’m asking why does it have silver on both top and bottom as most coins it’s half & half . That’s all.

 

You can look up the coin and its metal composition in the Red Book if you have one.

I am really confused. All US copper nickel clad coins have the outer layers silver colored with the center copper. What is different about this one?
