So....I got this in the mail today...I received a different coin than what was pictured on the website. Can anyone tell me what the streaking is on the obverse and reverse of the coin? I've heard of "woodgraining" before but I didn't think this was it. Does it take away from the value?
First, if it’s not the coin you purchased, contact the seller and request a return with a full refund. The coin you posted appears to have an improperly mixed alloy. Check the PCGS number to verify. If it matches the number on your purchase, it may have been poor pictures. JMHO
If I did not receive the coin I was expecting, I'd certainly send it back. What website did you buy it on just out of curiosity? My first instinct is not a reputable coin dealer, but someplace like APMEX. Typically woodie coins are attractive, but this one is in my opinion not. It's caused by a improperly mixed alloy.
Thank you....To me, if I'm buying whats advertised on a website I would expect to get the coin I'm looking at....unless its stated that its a stock photo...which it didn't say. I don't buy from dealers who use stock photos because you don't know what you're going to get.
I'd call them or contact them to let them know that you did not receive the correct coin. That coin in my opinion will be more difficult to liquidate in the future because of the impaired eye appeal. Did they have it listed as a bulk listing with a stock image or was it an individual coin listing?
That is a very ugly woodie. I would send it back...especially since it was not the coin you purchased. I looked at their website, I don't see any mention of stock photos. I agree with the post above that the coin you received would be much harder to liquidate than the one you actually bought.
Do you like it more than the one you actually bought? If you don’t, return it. You got a lower quality item than what you paid for.
Terrible business decision for them to send you a different coin, that truly sucks! Makes no sense, hopefully you send it back and they take care of you for the inconvenience and money you spent!
I do like the one I thought that I was buying....I don't think they're open tomorrow so I'm going to call them on Monday.
I am sure a coin shop will be open on Saturday. I like wood grain coins usually, but I am not a fan of that one.
