After about 30-45 minutes I've got it ID'ed as an N-4.
    How did I do?

I'm also coming up with N-4.

    Nope that I know of.
    I bought Wright's book.

I was looking at my Newcomb book and it's clearly N4. The N3 and N4 share the same Obverse, but it's the N4 that has the distinctive reverse die cracks through the legend...as does yours.

    Thanks for the confirmation.
I'm not used to wading through so many possible varieties.
I'm used to the Classic Head half cents where the greatest number is six for the 1809's.
Since I'm going to concentrate now on Matron Head large cents I'm hoping to improve on my abilities.

I have most of the 1804 Half Cent die pairs/die states. Fascinating date!

N-11 has that same reverse, but it is N-4. The mid to late stage die crack through the bottom of the date confirms N-4
