Check out how the letters ST of State on Reverse did not suffered the clip. That 's the best prove the coin was in the die when this happen.

I don't believe this is an mint error.... looks like post mint damage to me. The "ST" on the reverse is a typically weakly struck area.

Remember other things before you give another opinion. 1st. The scarf again same as my 1982 Lincoln. and 2nd the clip, is the area of the VDB.

not a clip. it is post mint damage.

Clips do not occur in the die. A clip happens during the initial cutting of the blanks.

I'd say post mint as well. What do you think would cause this damage in the die?

Simple, the punch in charge of the VDB mark was broke.

That isn't a punch. That is on the master hub.
    Post-Mint.

I rotated the image 150 degrees. Sound a little most familiar this image?

The coin has been smashed with something. Definitely Post Mint damage of some sort.

    Thanks,
    Bill

You can find that shape in Einsenhower Dollar's reverse, close to the Eagle are feet. But my mayor concern right now is the new discovering on Lincoln's face, and may be that is the reason of the scarf of the 1982 cent and this one. Enjoy it and laugh again.

What you are pointing out is imaginary. It's like looking at the clouds and imagining that there are rabbits or Mickey Mouses (Mice), in the clouds.
    Thanks,

Mr. Bill, my findings are related with hours and hours of investigation. It's easy to said "Post mint Damage" when you don't know from were some marks are coming. But in this particular one if you know about Nova Constellatio Patterns and St. Patrick Farthing and St. Patrick Halfpenny. Then you'll see that, this coin was made in a very, very, very old Die.
