Here is another one of my new Morgan Dollar pickups. We seem to have some very astute members in here now. This makes this really fun. Let's see if you can guess the grade and the VAM on this one. It shouldn't be too challenging, the die markers are visible, if you know what to look for.
65, looks like a real blazer. I think VAMs are really cool, but trying to determine them gives me a headache. Since you collect old holders I could see 64 but looks to have great eye appeal.
I was so wrapped up in the VAM, I just wanted to say the smooth surfaces on that coin are absolutely gorgeous. I don't see a whole lot of distracting marks, and I put out my answer of 64 from a technical point of view. Market grading gives these coins a bump depending on the eye appeal, And I would say that this one is amazing in hand, the scrapes on her cheek, that we see in the photo are actually light grazes, if I am reading the photos right. Very pretty coin @jtlee321
Looks like a really nice VAM 4. Very clean fields, scuffs on the cheek, but not many and nothing deep. No large expanse of undisturbed luster on the cheek that I would want for a 65, so I'll say 64.
Some great guesses coming in! I know VAM's are not everyone's cup of tea, which is fine. If all you want to do is guess the grade, please feel free to do so. Guessing the VAM is not a requisite to guessing the grade. There are some on here such as @messydesk who are really into VAM's. Anyway, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, at least as good as you can have considering this is 2020. I will do the reveal later this evening. Thank you all for your participation so far.
I am literally always one grade high on your GTGs so my gut says MS65, but I will say it is in an MS64 holder. Maybe those hits on the eagle's breast held it back like the coin you posted last week.
