Hi Michelle and welcome to Coin Talk..... Yes, there are a few wheat cents that have some intrinsic value attached to them. Most of them are fairly common though. While they are rich in history, they have little intrinsic value. It is a perfect coin to start a collect with though!

Well Michelle I've been collecting since 7 y/o back in the day all coins were copper or silver....war & buffalo nickels....a many a candy bar or ice cream were purchased with 90% silver coins.

However i am not the oldest here.... heck Doug helped Moses find the promised land....had he not helped ....Moses would of got there 20 years sooner. :)

I have had in my possession, for 10 years now, a coin collection from my grandparents, who were serious collectors back in the day. I'm 56, and just began to evaluate what they found and collected. Several, and I mean several, Lincoln cents, some AU, most circulated, many buffalo nickels, and many double double mint marks, small and large date pennies. I'd like to post a few things to get some help on value, but I havent figured where to upload images.

I can help with that . first make sure the images are in your pictures, on your computer . then on the post, there's a upload a file button .
tap that, and your pictures on your computer will pop up . double click the picture, and it will load on the post ...

    just like this .

If your penny is a rotated die it might be worth something. The back in your pictures is in a different position then the front. I have to assume that is just something you did while taking the picture. However if you hold the penny by the sides between you fingers looking at lincoln heads up, and then just flip it over, is the Lincoln Memorial straight up too? If not , you have a rotated die coin. That is worth something.

Yup, finding a wheat penny in your change is sure fun and starting a wheat album is the perfect way to start collecting. So much fun filling the dates.
Silver dimes and quarters also from 1964 and down.
With people out of work due to covid these coins are surfacing again.
    Enjoy!

I just want to add that if your looking at buying rolls of wheatback pennys whether on ebay or anywhere else, there are NO "Unsearched" rolls.
No big new finds in a estate or basement or what ever the seller comes up with, all are searched and have a few ok coins sprinkled in and at times have a Indian head put in at one end.
The rolls might also look old and crimped tight but they have tools to make it look that way..

I thought I was one of the old guys here. You've got me beat by a year. But...I'll mention this because of what happened 57 years ago...I saw JFK with my own 2 eyes when he was campaigning for POTUS and I still remember even though I had just turned 5 at the time.

A very close friend and work colleague saw and remembers at 3/4 y/o lived in Germany, Berlin to be exact....was on his fathers shoulders when Kenedy made his speach at the gate.
When Kenedy said in German..."I to am a Berliner."
His dad who I never had the honor to meet......was a GI WW ll part of the OSS..later to become the CIA.
Between him and his brother I have been told many stories of life with a very active agent.
His dad spoke both German, and Russian .....his dads job get East German, and Russian scientists out of East Berlin.
He made many trips under the wall to do so!
He tell me daddy would put my cowboy suit on....and we go out to the wall...I would pose..and daddy take photos.....not of his cute kid but gun and guard placements.
He shared I ask daddy have my pictures come back yet? lol....another story same type having him carry balloons and tell him ok let them go..... hopefully landing in the right hands with coded messages.
We have lived in some great times....experenced so much ....we were the sons and daughters of the greatest generation ever...and love to share the stories that need be told.
