Well guy's I have this huge smile across my face!! :D :D
I have just added a huge note to the collection that I have been wanting for a very long time!

This note is known as the "JackAss Note" [IMG] and it is in PMG 64 EPQ. Is'nt Mr. Daniel Webster such a scrooge looking individual?

I can not express enough how thrilled I am to add this to the Large Size collection....Beer's are on the House!!

Thanks for taking the time to read and look at this note. When it arrives I will post larger images as usual.

    Regards,

    RickieB

Really nice, congrats on your new acquisition! He does look angry or constipated or something. I really like how the lower serial # looks like it is on the scroll, kind of like a 3d effect.

    RickieB,
Wow, what a fantastic, pristine note. I love the Pocahontas image. There is so much going on in that note, front and back -- amazing for such an old note. Not too many red serial numbers either. Yours is in great condition. I have a few nice notes, but nothing like yours. I can see why you are excited -- must have waited a while to find one like that. :thumb:

What is it about this note??

Some of you may wonder what is it about this note that attracted a guy like me?
Well, to start with this note is within the 4th Issue of United States Notes known as Legal Tender Notes. All notes in the 4th Issue were printed under the Act of March 3, 1863. The notes that were issued were from $1 to $10,000 dollars and include note from Series 1869, 1874, 1878, 1880, 1907, 1917 and 1923. One distinction is that the Series of 1869 were Titled "Treasury Notes" all other issues mentioned here wer titled "United States Notes". The reallly interesting fact is that the "obligation" for all Series under the 4th Issue is exactly the same; The United State will pay to bearer....dollars....This note is a Legal Tender at its face value for all debts public and private, except duties on imports and interest on the public debt.
There is a variety that exist on the 1869 Series that bears a watermark of USUSUS like that of the 4th issue of fractional currency.

    This note is assigned the Fr# of 101 and is noted as design #16b which is denoted via the Large Brown Seal of the Dept of Treasury. There were 3 signature changes on this design;
    Fr#100 Scofield/Gilfillian
    Fr#101 Bruce/Gilfillian
    Fr#102 Bruce/Wyman

The Vignetts feature Daniel Webster U.S. Congressman and Senator, Secrtary of State in 1841 and from 1850-1852.
The Note was engraved by Mr. Alfred Sealy the vignet at the right displays Pocahontas being presented to Englands Royal Court.

All notes from Fr#96 to Fr#113 are the so called "Jackass Notes". When the note is inverted, the Eagle appears as a rather Large eared Jackass.

Hope this sheds a little light on what attracted me to this note and the 4th Issue. Although I dubt I will ever have the complete Large Brown Seal denominations, it is my Goal to have the $1, $2, $5, $10 and $20 Denominations in my Large Size Collection. So with the inclusion of this note, it makes my second of five! so there is the goal, 5 Large Size, Large Brown Seal notes in CHCU or better.

**Note** When looking at denominations of $500- $10,000 keep in mind that the $5000 and $10,000 note have all been redeemed and none exist. The $500 and $1000 notes are extremely rare and Auction results for a $500 Large Brown Seal note in VF went for over $138,000 in 2005
