Guys, did I do good? I really like this coin, super super sharp detail! Better than any roman coin I have ever had the pleasure of holding/owning. What do you guys think, you all are much better experts than I.
thanks anthony, The coin is actually darker in hand...the light gives it a yellowish cast on the obverse. It actually looks more like the reverse but still a little darker almost like a dark hershey bar. What do you guys think she is worth? I hope I didn't overpay.
Yeah, they usually are..the darkness is probably because of the Patina...which is a good thing for ancients.. Value?..I'd pay $25-30..but you could get more depending on if it is needed stainless
$150... I showed it to a few ancient dealers...kind of an oxy moron because yes they themselves are ancient They told me that it was worth anywhere from $250 to $500 dollars...
Hmmm....Maybe I took i for granted that it was a more common type...I'll check the exergue and post what I find in a few minutes. stainless
Here you go: http://www.forumancientcoins.com/ca....jpg&id=38563&pak=19107.79270&heavy=0','main') Yours is much better though...But I wouldn't say $250-500..but $150 sounds reasonable.. Sorry about the first coupla post..my mistake..I automatically assumed that is was a common, as I never have seen a Comiti that good! Nice buy! stainless
I would have assumed common as well, thus paying only $30-50 myself. But it IS London mint, and thats an exceptional banner Sol is carrying.
i wouldn't kick myself for paying $150. it's a reasonably nice example and looks authentic. nicely centered, decent obverse and bust, nice reverse. van meter, which is out of date in terms of pricing, has your coin in the second value band -- meaning $100 to $300. it's certainly not worth $300, and i'm not certain i would have paid $150 for it, but that's not to say it was an outrageous price. no deal, no ripoff. the dealers you showed the coin to were way off base with $250 to $500. way off base. a nice coin, though. pick it up off the carpet! v.
I was going to say WOW if I could get one that nice for 30 bucks then ancients were they type of coins for me. But then I read the rest of the thread. :mouth: BTW nice coin!
Superb coin Tdec!!! :thumb: I really like him. :thumb: What is going on though? It looks like the Lincoln Cent collectors are converting to Ancients. Might be an epidemic. Phoenix
