After seeing the amount of junk silver coins being posted on here in recent days, I've been thinking to myself, what type of coin is the most eye-appealing after extensive circulation? Nonetheless, this may be a somewhat controversial opinion, but I've always thought that the Pre-1965 Silver Washington Quarters retain the best eye appeal after prolonged circulation, especially those from the 1930s and 1940s. Needless to say, I was quite curious as to the rest of the community's opinions on this subject. Regardless, post whatever you may feel is relevant, whether it is ancient or modern.

I agree. I prefer circulated washington quarters heavily, the flattening of the cheek and hair looks nice imo.

For ancient silver coins, I would say the coolest ones are the Syracuse Tetradrachm.

I always felt that bust halves had the best circulated eye appeal. And I know that is a subjective thing.

I like them all. But, the ones I like the most are those whose circulation ends in me hand.

For modern coins in junk silver it would be Washington Quarters or Walking Liberty Halves. For older worn silver coins the best is Bust Halves, hands down.

I feel like Roosevelt dimes hold up pretty well in circulation, but they have too little eye appeal to start with. Same thing for Lincolns and Jeffersons, IMHO.

I agree with the OP...a worn silver Washington Quarter is the best IMHO.

I've always thought that Roosevelt Dimes were quite bland myself. The Mercury Dime was arguably a much more superior coin aesthetically.

I agree with @Paddy54 the more worn through a hard commercial lifetime, the more beautiful they are

Modern silver, the Franklin half dollars. In general, any of the Liberty Head (Barber) designs.

Beat me to it Randy but I agree. Barber coinage and mercury dimes are also prone to a fantastic circulated look.

I do agree that Barber coinage looks nice when worn...but I personally think it's ugly when not worn.
