I dissent, there are literally thousands of premium gem 1938-D Buffalo Nickels and many of them have more spectacular toning than this one. I’m at 3.5
It's a nice Buffalo but I'm not too bullish on it. I might be the lowest but I'm only seeing a 3.0 (that was my first impression, I gave it some more thought, and came back with the same opinion).
On mine I say 5.7 based on the grade of it, MS 68 CAC. I like the bi-metal look of the obverse but higher points aren't merited due to the terminal state of some toning.
The commemorative is nice, but it's too dark in a lot of places for my taste (particularly the obverse). I'm at a 4.8.
The Norfolk is impressive but the luster has to be muted a tad with toning that deep. I recall an MS68 Norfolk with bright golden toning that was unbelievable. I give this one a 5.0
The Buffalo is still in play and we can continue with the Norfolk as well (although let's try to not post new coins until the last round is called). My score on the Norfolk will again be fairly low. It's a high grade but it doesn't pop out at me. I see the dark areas before the better toned ones....now remove the "outer ring", and I would go higher I'm only at 3.9
The Norfolk has a nice coloring scheme but I agree with those who mention it's darkness. With that in mind I'll go with a 4.
