What coin dealers would you not recommend. I know John Paul Sarosi, Coast To Coast, Skyline, Paul Sims, and Littleton are not not good. I just had a bad experience with Chesapeake Coin Co. Are there any other dealers out there you wouldn't go near with a 10 foot pole?

The Morgan Mint is one I would add to your list because their prices are high.

Isn't it a bit excessive to bad-mouth certain dealers, without explaining why? Just because you may have had a bad experience with someone doesn't necessarily make them a "bad" dealer.

On the other hand, if there is a repetitive pattern of over grading, over pricing, deceptive practices, bad attitude, etc., then tell us about it.

I could add a couple, but won't...my experience may not match yours. And several of them have been recommended around here. So I will just watch this thread.

At least 3 of the sellers listed in the o.p. routinely have large multipage ads in CW. My experience with 1 of the 3 on multiple occasions is that they sell AU sliders as BU, and cleaned coins as BU. Very few have original surfaces. Everything I have read about Littleton on this board and others is that they are pricey but honest, and their grading is accurate. I have no experience with Mr. Sarosi.

Would you care to share your experience with Chesapeake Coin Co.? I'm not familiar with them.

I have used coast to coast, Paul Sims, and skyline on different occasions and had good experiences.

I've delt with Simms on occasion, but you do have to watch yourself. BU Peace dollar was AU (MHO). Better results after I sent it back....

I agree with David. No sense to talk bad how about some good talk. If you're looking to buy or sell check out coinbug.com or a GREAT SELLER is mesacoin.com. Jack is so helpful and great to buy from. :eek:dd:HEHE possible sales pitch??

I know Littleton is way overpriced. All you have to do is look at one of their catalogues to see that. I don't know about the others though.

I have never bought from Littleton but the general concensus is that Littleton's prices may be high (actually very high) but their grading is solid. If they sell you an EF-45 you will pay dearly for it but it will be an EF-45 if not slightly better.

To accentuate the positive here are the good dealers:

    L&C - G&F - Beymer - Estes - Potter - Weinburg - Snow -

and yes, littleton is high and so are some of these guys but don't you wish you had bought tough key date coins in VF to AU grades from Littleton about 20 years ago? You could have made a fortune!

I believe that there may be several coin dealers in business that have names with "Chesapeake" in them. For example, there's one that regularly attends local coin shows; but I don't believe he trades under the exact title "Chesapeake Coin Company."

I'd also like to understand some detail about your experience.
