John, I wish you success. But I can't help but mention I don't see any of your coin retailing in the Heritage auctions, either. Don't tell me they're protecting the public, too.

Heritage has told me that they are very interested in DGS material, and I don't think they would turn down a big consignment of DGS-graded coins. But they, like CAC, want to see us around for at least a year to make sure we've got legs.

Of course, we're going to be around for a long time but I understand their perspective. In the meantime, we are working daily to get our processes down pat and create the best grading team possible.

It could only help if readers of this forum would send a letter to Heritage stating that you'd like to see DGS coins in their auctions. Thanks!

p.s. I just wrote a blog about our sale last night if anyone would like to read it.

Nice to see you John just the other day i mentioned you and here you are :) You really must start selling stuff overseas so some of us collectors can get coins with the customs hassles. What are your thoughts on the coin market for 09 seeing the world economy will grow by 0.2% this year the lowest in 45 years

Spock- Thanks for the welcome. I would LOVE to do more business overseas. If the European market gets more active numismatically (which is the trend) then we will start attending shows there.

As far as 2009, I have been pleasantly surprised by the level of activity we've seen so far. December 2008 was better than the the year prior, and January '09 is a record that month. I'm not sure if we are growing in market share, or the market is bigger, but we hope it's a little of both. Collectors have become increasing active since the low-point of October and there seem to be plenty of buyers and sellers.

How that relates to world (or U.S.) GDP, I have NO idea. I'm just a coin dealer... ;-)

well go further east and come to India. Lot of money here and people have little knowledge they could do with DLRC and DGS. Hell DGS will save the coin industry here. plus the market is growing by the day. A small office here wont cost you much but it can be a great outpost.

I just read your news release looks like smoky mountains did quite nicely :) i thinkt he market for certified coins will grow bigger with more emerging markets playing. Look at the indian gold scam i am sure that alone will be very favorable to a dealer/ grading company of integrity.

And no you are longer just a coin dealer with what just happened to the world economy. you are more like a wealth manager :D

Now why would he ever in his right mind want to come out to Indiana, Spock? Sheesh! :D

I read the short blog too then clicked the auction link and spent a good hour or so last night looking over same. So that's the principal retail market for these. I guess I knew that 6 months ago, back when this thread started, but I forgot. Sort of a closed system right now, then, with just SGS and DLRC. Looks very good, though, don't get me wrong; top-notch, IMHO, all the way around. I just still think, as a consumer, though, I'd feel a little squeezed, restricted.
