.........there are a lot of drawings available that show the new reverses to be minted this year for the lincoln cent. BUT! they all seem to be just a drawing. i'm sure there are members here who have seen this video so this is for those who didn't. when watching it, after about 1 minute and 9 seconds in to it, take a gander at the reverses shown. they are as close to the actual copper coin that i have seen illustrating what the new coins will look like. do any of you agree? hope you enjoy it.

That is really neat. Thanks for sharing.

Overall, I like the new designs.

How stupid the fourth design is, with the unfinished Capitol Building representing Lincoln's Presidential years. Wouldn't it have made a lot more sense - both logically and esthetically - to show the White House? Yes, I know he spent little time in the White House but how much time did he spend in the Capitol Building?

Who cares? it's too late to change it anyway. Now has anyone seen any 2009 coins yet? The DC quarter's supposed to be out, and with the dollar and half pretty much "collector only" all we have are the nickel and dime as "normal coinage. I haven't seen a new nickel in circulation since 2007.

I've only just recently seen 2008 nickels for that matter. Probably be a while for 2009 coinage to show up... haven't seen any yet. Do think they're trying to get the new pennies in circulation by Feb. 12 (Lincoln's 200th birthday) though.

No I don't think so. The White House doesn't have any special connection with Lincoln but the unfinished Capital building DOES have a direct connection to Lincoln. When the war broke out it was suggested that the work on the Capital dome be discontinued until the end of the conflict, but on Lincolns orders the construction continued because he want the people to see that the governments work was still continuing unabated.

It also fits because most of the work on the dome was done during Lincolns presidency. The White House was just the White House and other than the every administration redecorating by the new First Lady nothing special.

I personally think there should have been a reverse representing the preservation of the union. Too late for this year, maybe 2010. I'd also settle for a wheat ears reverse.

The Preservation of the Union is what is supposed to be on the post 2009 cents if they continue.

Last week the History channel had a program about the WhiteHouse and alot more than redecorating took place. At one point they took apart a crane moved it inside and took out the whole inside!
Thanks for the vid post Grizz!

Hearing the word "penny" made me cringe. Cent flows off the tongue so much better.

Poor Katy doesn't have enough "cent's" to not call it a penny?!

Oh for pete's sake, lets not start the penny/cent debate again. Only coin collectors make the distinction and not all of them/us.

Ah! that's the 10 million penny question! As to the cent, they haven't decided yet, but the law is that it can't be the Lincoln memorial or the wheat design.

    We will know around September.

Then there's the „´‰Ø©∆ National Parks quarters thing.

A one hundred year run for Lincoln is long enough. The cent should be discontinued altogether.

The White House? I know that was doneduring at least one administration but I don't believe it was during Lincoln's.
