I am sure you will find some here who do, but most, myself included, use NGC registry. They accept both NGC and PCGS coins.

Do it only if want to use PCGS coins, as mentioned it only accepts PCGS graded coins. I do it for my silver eagles, but that is it. One way to track coins you have or need. Just something to do in my spare time.

I don't use it, but if I did, it would only be to catalogue my collection not to compete for points. I enjoy my hobby for relaxation and enjoyment, not for a competition versus other collectors.

I didn't realize that NGC accepted both NGC coins and PCGS coins. Does NGC rank coin collections like PCGS?

I like PCGS's better but unfortunately it only accepts their coins.

I only use NGC for the reasons RLM said. PCGS did this in my opinion to get people to crack out NGC coins and resubmit to them (money makes the world go round), but it is unfortunate and elitist in my opinion. NGC slabs are just as quality -actually more airtite and now they will be photoing every coin and people will soon be able to check a database prior to a purchase to make sure the cert # is legit and not a fake. Though I don't think they are as attractive as PCGS
