Just picked these up last night from Heritage...a nice Radar and a couple of others for empty holes in the NY Collection. Thought we were getting a new Doppler site...... Ricky, please explain what "New York radar" is as I am truly unenlightened when it comes to paper money.
Hello Ruben and Green, A radar note is simply the SN# being in such an order that it reads the same forwards and reverse. SO look at the leading 4 numerals, then look at the ending 4 numerals from right to left, they are the same. Hope this helps... RickieB
palindrome - a word, phrase or series of numbers that reads the same forwards or backwards Examples of palindromes are: radar, madam, racecar, deified, Bob, Anna, Hannah. This sentence is a palindrome: "A man, a plan, a canal. Panama." Instead of calling this a 'radar note' we could call it a 'palindrome note' or 'racecar note' or a 'Bob note'. I think the term 'radar note' conveys the idea very well.
Thanks everyone.... Lately I have considerd giving up the quest to complete the collection! Finding some of the notes I need is really difficult! I am wondering if it could ever be complete? Do not be surprised to perhaps see in the future the New York Collection up for auction....at your local top 3 auction Dealers. Hard for to admit this but it may very well be a possibility! Regards, RickieB
i know i have been trying to complete the chicago collection. i have come to a realization that more than likely i wont. some star notes just might not come up. but i will never stop. if i cant finish i will find what i can till i cant find anymore. hope you hold onto it. gl
Urban.... It sure is daunting at times huh? I am just a little overwhelmed at the moment for sure. I do plan to keep up the search, but I may have to lower my Grade expectation somewhat! Some of these are almost impossible! Regards, RickieB
LOL now you can see why i go for some lesser quality notes just to fill the spots sometimes. i can always replace them with higher grades if they come around. i have had a harder time getting 80's-present notes than the real early ones. i dont know if you deal with ebay at all but i have found quite a few hard notes in recent months. i always see tons of NY notes. this weekend i need to compile what exactly is in the chicago distract as a whole including star notes so i can start to make a chart of what i have and dont have. :crying::crying::bigeyes:
Urban... What I do is I keep 2 copies of the Official Red Book Guide to US Paper Money. In that book I highlight and record SN#s of all notes that I have. 1 Copy is in the safe and the other copy goes with me so I can always reference what I have Large and Small. FleaBay is a dreaded space for me, I have little faith in most sellers. I have feelers out for some of the harder stars Series 1928 and 1928A, B and C The 80's to present are hard to get as well because they are so common no one saves em... I do not want to lower mystandards too much...butt I may have to make a few exceptions. RickieB
