So I know I just purchased a 1964-D NGC MS67 Jefferson Nickel for my collection. But I have decided to purchase this coin as well because I JUST GOTTA KNOW! There are two specific reasons why I want to buy this coin. Can anyone guess what they are? I will give you a hint, neither reason should be easy to guess. One is unbelievable and the other is not typical of my collecting habits.
1.How did it grade uncirculated and 2.are there ANY steps. Possible #3 &4 Whats up with the lack of hair detail (thin planchet) or checking for errors.
Because some TPG (SGS?, NNC?) graded it 67 FS and you have to see how far off they really are? As for the second reason, we are supposed to guess what you call "unbelievable"? HUH?
Knowing you the "unbelievable" part has something to do with toning. Is it the color of the toning? The location (only above Montecello so it looks like the sky just before dawn?)?
Well, the toning on the reverse is probably going to be insane, since that's a terrible picture. But then, you said the reasons probably wouldn't be easy to guess. I'm going to guess: 1) You think it might be a late-date black beauty? 2) You got it for $1.
I'd say you want to know if the strike is really that weak. That's the weakest strike I've ever seen on what appears to be an MS Jeff. You probably consider it unbelievable that it got an MS grade. Other reason - no idea.
Question #1: What the hell was NGC thinking grading that 67? Question #2: Is an adjustment strike? Just a few guesses. I really have no idea.
Because it's really a hobo nickel , started out as a Bufallo and was carved into a Jefferson , tell you the truth Le I've no idea , the sky is blue so that's too obvious to your tastes . rzage
That is the reason that is out of the realm of my collecting habits. I have no interest in RPM's but I has peaked my curiosity on this coin. One down, one to go.
