This is my first Walker! Let me know what you think, grading, value, whatever you want to comment on hya: Judging by the Red book's description of grades, I would say it's in the Fine range.
Congratulations. The Walking Liberty half is a very popular coin, and for good reason -- it's a very beautiful design.
It's so true. Certainly one of the greatest, if not THE greatest design. I wish we had beautiful designs again, instead of simple portraits.
looks to be a F-15 to VF-20, its a nice design and very beautiful when circulated or uncirculated, which gives it a leg up on the other two wonderful works of art the buffalo nickel and the SLQ which both look terrible in grades below XF.
I really need help on my grading. I graded this coin VF-30 to EF-40. Here is what I looked at. 1. There seems to be a lot of skirt lines. This puts it above Fine for me. 2. I see some detail remaining on the left arm of Miss Liberty. This make me lean towards Extremely Fine. 3. The reverse is where I see more wear. However, there seems to be some feather detail remaining on the right and left leg of the eagle. Additionally, I see a few feathers on the top of its neck. What about this coin make you all so confident that it should be graded as Fine? I am just starting to learn grading and am looking for all the tips I can get. Thanks, Fred
From my experience, this wouldn't reach an XF at all. More like as to what you said, a low VF Too many of the high points (which are practically gone now) have been worn down too much for it to be an XF. But it's still a very nice coin though!
I'm inclined to agree with ryanbrooks. You did a very good assessment of the coin, however, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. Heck, SGS would probably grade this, what....MS 63??? 65?? = P
Your welcome Although this could be mechanical doubling, still a very nice coin to own and a neat error! :thumb:
heck, any kind of doubling or error is really cool to me. I think I just realized that I'm really into errors and toning. sweet.
The easiest place to see the doubling is on the bottom of the U in United States , most likely caused by loose dies . rzage
