Hard to grade from seller’s pics, but you knew that
If it’s under $20 incl shipping I’d go for it

They made Indian head pennies in 1909? I thought they switched to lincoln?

The photos are too small to estimate the grade, but the color tells me it's been dipped. The brown toning above the headdress looks like residue from being dipped.

This is a 1909-S Indian Cent, but the color should give an idea as to how an original coin should look. There are pieces with original red color, but they are very scarce. The color should be similar to that of a modern Lincoln Cent despite the fact that it is made of copper coated zinc.

Thanks for sharing your info on IHC. I have collected all IHC's except the 1877. Almost all of them are "good", or maybe a little better. I thought that I would get all the coins that I could and when better coins come along, replace the "good" coins with a better coin. It's been fun looking for them. My wife and I are retired state employees. I was an accountant and she taught senior English in high school. When I can get the 1877 for under (far, far under) a thousand dollars, I hope I have the funds to buy it.

I have a red book... I just don't have it on me at all times... + I don't compare coins on paper... I compare coins with mine to the paper if that makes any sense

I'd agree that it probably has been dipped. My experience with buying raw red IHC from pictures like that is that they have been dipped. There aren't many sellers that have quality enough pictures that I feel comfortable with.
