I voted 64 but may be high. With the scratches on the face and across the wings, I think it might be lower.

And it's a 65. Good catch on the scratches but they may be exaggerated with the large pics. The fields are really clean the luster was high and strike looks good. I wouldn't have been shocked if it was a 64. Was looking at a 66 on ebay and even it had a few bag marks on the cheek but the fields were extremely clean with high luster.

The eagles breast isnt as bad as the photo...yeah there is a mark but its only in the frost.
I agree that size of image does exaggerate the marks to look worse then actual.

Thank you. I'm glad to be back as well. I might not be on here everyday, but I don't plan on doing a disappearing act again. Every time I look at an '83-O Morgan, I think "What would Dave think about this one?". LOL

Here is the reveal. This one was among 6 or 7 other identically graded examples of the same date. It stood out like a sore thumb. The luster on this baby is simply amazing! I was so excited to come home with a pair of new coins for my collection. :)

I said 65 and I think my grade is closer. I have this date in a 64 and yours looks better. It should be a 65.

It's a nice looking coin but I'm not seeing the costs being worth it. A generic 64 is a $40-$50 coin. This one would go for a premium over that. A generic 65 is an $80-$100 coin. The ~$40 gain would almost all be eaten up by grading fees. If this went 66, that is a different story but I think the odds are against a 66 grade.

I would be more inclined to add this into a CAC sub. If it went gold (again not easy to get), the coin would be worth as much or more than a generic 65.

It doesn’t need to go 66, MS65+ would be worth it. I’m stunned that this coin is in an MS64 holder. Unless @jtlee321 photos are so flattering that they are making the coin look much better than it actually, this coin is severely undergraded.

Additionally, grading fees at economy tier are $25 (including S&H). I’m perfectly happy making a $15 profit on a $100 coin.

I consider you one of the more conservative graders on this forum, and even you had this graded higher than the TPG grade.

My question for you is, when is the last time your grade was higher than the assigned grade in one of these gtg threads?
