    A fine grade? Nice toning!

    Will it grade?

Any opinions? Will those scratches preclude grading? I think they will easily tone down with time as they are very superficial

Looks to have been harshly cleaned IMO - BB material.

I'll agree, the SVDB will probably end up in a " genuine " holder.......

The 09-S would be considered damaged as well, but should slab at a 15

My batting average has not been too god with them lately, but I think it would grade if it has not been cleaned. Here is the first I ran into on Heritage. Yours is similar in grade and scratches. I can't say how it got graded with so much green on it, however. If yours has not been cleaned, I do not see it getting bagged for scratches.

What are the signs of the harsh cleaning?

Pretty much the whole coin shows signs of it. This is one of the easier areas to see.

Is is just me or does that coin look like it has been replated?

ROFL! You said that last time. I doubt it, but if it is I'll exchange it for another. He had about 5 of them for the Willmington, Deleware show this weekend.

Actually, no I did not say that last time. I think you will find that I did not even comment on your last one.

This one, however, looks like the bow tie is worn away as well as wear on the jaw and cheek. And, there appears to be bubbles mostly on the reverse but some on the obverse. Either that or you have some funny looking dust on it.

I think that is very close. The reverse has visible hits on the rev "E"s, and some "ugly" browning occurring at the base of the wheats, but the obv is nice. Good luster in hand. I would not be unhappy with a 63RB or 64RB. Thanks for looking! I enjoy seeing your also.

Jack, If you can swallow this level of stupidity on my part this came from a PCGS EF-40 holder. Had verdigris growing and a bunch of boogers in the recesses. I got all of it off with a rose thorn, and used Veridgone to reduce the verdigris on the reverse (two spots) which significantly shrunk. All was well until I soaked in acetone too long to reduce the verdigris and this washed out/removed the toning. Those lines weren't there until after this too long of soak. Now I have to let this thing tone over and wait forever. This and my 14 D are sitting there reminding me of how to be patient with coins and not impulsive. I have both those coins in air tights in a pink coin envelope. On my dresser. I am experimenting with various areas around my house with raw coins in envelopes to see what environment will tone properly (which is why I started the post "how to tone a coin naturally"). My thought is to put coin in envelope raw when it's hot and humid, but this makes me nervous. I don't want the reverse verdigris to grow back or weird toning to grow so I am taking the conservative route now. I can never sell these coins on principal without disclosure, but want to see if they can naturally retone and holder. That will be a big accomplishment if possible.:hammer:

Jim if you don't mind me asking what did you pay? I am always curious if people get keys for any deals? I agree 63/64 RB. I will buy this coin graded soon. It's on my list
