Did you try to get the V75 Silver Eagle? If you were successful, will you keep it or flip it? & Why?

I did get one of these, although it was not easy. I will keep it and find a way to display with my other WW II coins and bills. I am very proud of my father and Uncle's contributions and would like to honor them with a well prepared display.

I got one. I did it on a whim after receiving the mint's reminder email.
I haven't decided if I want to keep or flip yet. Proof ASE's are not something that I collect and the "V75" privy mark isn't interesting enough for me to really want to keep it.
I am leaning towards flipping since the extra money would go a long way towards paying for Christmas presents for my kids. I've never sold a coin though.
I will decide when it gets here on Tuesday.

I'm with @Wizank I had a father and an uncle who was killed in The Battle of the Bulge in WWII; Dad made it home alive.

I mentioned in another thread that the Mint denied me access when I tried to get online. The ones listed on ebay are priced outrageously, so it's probably a no-go for me on this coin, too.

If you decide to sell yours, let us know.

I was able to get one and I will use it to put together a V75 privy mark display for 2020. Unfortunately though the gold one is too far out of my range now or ever.

But anyways. The 5 2020 quarters and this silver eagle as the centerpiece is fine for me to do what I wanted to do. I think the gold one would have thrown off the balance anyways.

Supposedly (?) I got one . . . but I dunno anymore. I got an email confirmation of my order with an order number. BUT I see that literally everyone here is posting that their coin already shipped and is arriving in the next couple of days. Meanwhile, however, my order status at the mint site still says . . . processing. WTH do they have to process?

My faith in the US mint is actually less than zero. Negative.

So I'm thinking they're going to screw me.

In the unlikely (?) event that they do actually ship me a coin someday, I will keep it with the rest of my ASE collection . . . only missing the 95-W proof and I'll break down and get that someday. Have every coin from 2019 in MS70 or PR70. Still have one of the 2011 five coin sets I got from the mint intact in the original box.

Thinking of ending the run in 2020. They are supposedly going to have at least six different variants in 2021, which I'm guessing is going to add up to another $400-$500. And I'm not a fan of the design changes . . . at all. So maybe that adds up to the end for me. We'll see.

My favorite is the 2008 with the reverse of '07. Perfectly symbolic of the US Mint.

The long processing happens to me almost every time I place an order at the mint. For me it's normal.

They will eventually ship it if you got a confirmation number. However you might get it before you get the notice on the website that it's shipped yet or a tracking number even. For some reason I slip through the cracks on my orders and they process and all but then it hangs in processing and I chase them and then one day it shows up on my porch and I check the website and it shows everything and delivered.

No idea why it's so screwed up for me, just saying don't strest it. If they won't fulfill your order they will let you know by email, Otherwise they are doing it and not updating the website for whatever the reason.

Personally I think it has something to do with the fulfillment centers but just suspicion really.

I wanted one as a small way to honor my father for his service during WW2. With the prices I'm seeing on eBay, I would definitely consider flipping it. But then that is not why I want through the hassle. I might add, that I called my daughter and talked her into trying. We were both lucky! So now I guess my son will inherit mine. :)

Please send us pictures once you get it and if you decide to grade it let us know how that goes!

I don't know much about getting coins professionally graded, but would like to learn. No coin is ever really perfect, so I'd like to know what an ASE needs to look like or what flaws it needs to not have, in order to qualify for an MS70. I may have specimens that qualify and I wouldn't even know it! :wideyed:

Have you thought about an even trade in silver? Thats what I am trying to do with my silver eagle. $500 equivalent in silver rounds/coins.

I collected Silver Eagles for years, hand picking most all. Had several complete sets up until around 2014. Then I found out about milk spots. Pulled out the sets, found some spots then dumped all of them.

If, as the PM sellers are insisting, the value of PMs will continue to rise I should be holding on to my ASEs. I admit I have far too many ASEs—thousands of them—but if I were looking to trade these I would be looking to get some gold coins.

So it's nearly a week later and I see tons of folks already have these in hand . . . and my lonely coin has not even shipped. They charged my card . . . still says "processing" (WTH could they be processing). I still think they're going to screw me eventually.

Maybe in two or three more weeks I'll get an email message that they oversold these, and they are very sorry to tell me that there is no seat available for me on this plane. However, they will give me a credit for future purchases in the amount that they already charged me. Thank you for choosing to fly US Mint, and have a nice day!

I have the same thing going on! I hope they're just behind in production and we will get them eventually.

Haven't received my coin yet, either. I was not expecting it for a few more days. I am trying to be patient.
