I'd love to get a vacation home there and spend a month there a year. Anyway, if you know the town I got it at the hat shop near the end of the shopping district just past one of the large lake front hotels. Its been there for YEARS Ruben
Sure do..Past the movie theatre all the way down main street. Think the shop you are talking about is where did you get that hat. Hopefully you can swing that vacation home up there. You are always welcome for dinner and we can talk about coins. Retirement is still a few years away for me. I try to make it up there at least once a year in the summer and the fall.
the other side away from the Hilton towards the Rink and across the street. I can't remember the name of that Hotel beut they have access to the lake and in the last few years they had the access to the Dog Sleds. Then there is a steak restaurant. Ruben
Got ya..Just past the high school and across the street. Temp 8 below up there now. Can't say I miss that part much. I've never seen a coin shop up there. Might be an opportunity!
I agree with this statement very much. It seems that even the most experienced cointalk members understand that they are still learning. There are just so many self professed experts on the TPG forums that it detracts from the fun and new members are intimidated from posting after lurking for a while. Cointalk is such a friendly place that even the most inexperienced collector feels very comfortable asking a question. It is a testament to the members on this forum. On the flip side, there are also some extremely knowledgeable members that provide for some exciting numismatic debate. I know that I go overboard from time to time, but I just love a good honest disagreement. The free sharing of ideas and the liberty to express opinions that are diametrically opposed are foundations of our great country just as coins are a fantastic historical look through time. I also really like the fact that the moderators are involved in the discussions and do not show up as virtual police wielding a delete your account button like some kind of fascist because you posted something that casts their TPG in a bad light. Members and entire threads disappear without an explanation or even a warning on other forums. Not on cointalk, free speech rules, and the moderators do an excellent job of knowing when to step in and when to let a disagreement run its course.
I agree. I post on another forum and they are very knowledgeable but can get testy, in fact downright unkind, and they don't post as often. There are lots of posts here and a wide range of opinions. New guys are welcome and I agree- well moderated. :thumb::thumb:
Wow, this thread is certainly evidence of the phenomenon I had in mind -- just a year ago, this thread would be lucky to have 5 or 10 responses a year ago. Now I go away for about 24 hours, and viola, a 4 page thread! Back to the question at hand...I think that the reason this forum has grown in popularity is because it is accessible and enjoyable for all levels. I'm not so sure that anything has happened to the size of the internet-enabled numismatic public -- I suspect those effects would have manifested themselves earlier. So I really think that it is the members (and moderators) that make this forum accessible and enjoyable to all skill levels. Anyway, thanks for all your thoughts, and here's a large cent for your troubles: Have fun....Mike
yes the popular choice award for the most popular coin exhbit the sponsor also told me that i was the only one who understood the canvas at the time
Ah - Yes - you were the first to understand that the project was about art! I agree. As for most popular...do you recall this thread http://www.cointalk.com/forum/t45705/ You also had me fall back in my chair in laughter!
He should be allowed to take it off at night, since the moon's glare can't blind you like the sun's glare. Ribbit
