An imperial couple who died young of medical illness, not assassination!

Poor Arcadius and his wife, Aelia Eudoxia. She died in childbirth at an unknown age -- probably in her late 20s -- and Arcadius died of "natural causes" at the age of 31.

Post your coins of the hapless imperial couple!

Natural causes could very well have been at the hands of Anthemius.

@Roman Collector I love that Eudoxia! I have had my eye on a few of her coins with the seated Victory reverse. I haven't found one in my budget yet to be able to pull the trigger.

Poor things. What is said to be natural one day, can very well be un-natural the next day : see food flavorings ;) )

Based on the observation of another example minted with the same dies and with a visible exergue on reverse, the Antioch's third officina provenance of this coin is now certain. Thanks to Myriam at Nummus Bible II forum for her perspicacity and for providing me with the information
