When you all mail coins, is it a rule of thumb to use sig required for anything over a certian amount or do you use or rely on the mail scan to make sure you stuff gets delivered. I ask because I have got other peoples mail alot in past couple years and I dont open it and do go to the address and deliver because I feel that if someone got my mail I would want them to do the same. I also got a fed ex deluvery at my house that wasnt mine and thought it was a coin I ordered but luckily looked address and it wasn't mine and was another neighbor on another block, so I drove it over to them. They were very thankfull. I think it sort of scared me into asking sellers if I pay for sig required if they will send that way. But don't you have to go to post office to get sig required paper?
Expensive coins are typically shipped with insurance on them with signature required optional. Inexpensive coins all of that is pretty unnecessary.
Anything below like $50 I’ll send in a greeting card. I use lettertrackpro.com to track all coins I send, even the $3 ones. Keeps everyone honest
Over a certain amount it's required by eBay and PayPal for their protection. No you can do it with the online labels.
The best way to ship anything via USPS is to use Registered Mail. It takes a little longer and it cost more but it's safer. Next would be to ship the least expensive way and insure it and have them sign for the package. The PO is required to attempt delivery but after that you go pick it up.
I just picked up one today at post office that was registered, I was gone Saturday when it was delivered. I am glad because it was Halloween and more people walking down the sidewalk. Its sad you cant trust strangers like the old days. Now people will steal your mail to get credit card offers. The cops came one day and said to watch trash because they caught addicts stealing trash on our Block looking for credit card offers. I guess safety has surpassed honesty.
I learned something here on CoinTalk and it came in handy. It concerns what to do if something is sent with a Tracking Number and it gets delivered to the wrong address. This has happened to me (as a buyer). So, of course, I can't complain to the seller. It's not his fault. I went to the Post Office and spoke to the Manager. I gave him the tracking number and he was able to look at exactly where the package was REALLY left off, because it has GPS coordinates. In my particular case, he areed that it was indeed left at another address and that the carrier will re-deliver it to me.
I had something like that happen to me where fed ex delivered a important paper somewhere else that was sig required that could not be replaced and they went back to where it was exactly deluvered and could not get it back. I told them I wanted to know where it was delivered and they wouldnt tell me. It was really messed up. It was over nighted from my doctor and by law he could not give me another paper and I was so stressed out. I am disabled and needed that paper. Well anyway it wasnt coin related, sorry to get off track. I am happy that the 15+ coins I have bought online have made it ok. I think I would be more sick if even one of my coins got lost in the mail.
first-class with tracking is what I use and also I don't make the package stand out I use bubble mailers, had no issues with that route things get to where they are going I use USPS to ship and have had no issue with things
