    Picked this up today out of curiosity. Guy wanted 2 euros for it. I offered him 1.5 and got it. The holder is seriously scratched and broken on the edge but it didn't come apart easily so I was hoping for a result. Eased it apart and I was not disappointed

    I guess I shouldn't be, but I'm amazed at how many American coins you find in Spain. It says ""garage sale" so local or did you get this off the internet?

    There are a lot of American military personnel here in the region of Andalucia. This is an excerpt from the Andalusia provincial website
    In 1991, the Air Force of the United States (USAF) withdrew from Torrejón de Ardoz and later in 2004 from Zaragoza, however remaining in Morón de la Frontera and the US Navy in Rota. At present, the Morón de la Frontera Air Base houses:

    - 11th wing of the Spanish Air Force, equipped with the latest generation Eurofighter Typhoon aircraft;

    - 221 Squadron, with the P-3 Orion of Maritime Patrol;

    - 2nd Air Deployment Support Squadron (SEADA);

    - Permanent Detachment of the Customs Surveillance Service, operated by Ala 37;

    - 2nd Emergency Intervention Battalion of the Military Emergency Unit (UME-BIEM II);

    - 496 ABS Squadron and the 18th SSS of the United States Air Force;

    In June 2015 the Spanish government signed an agreement with the United States whereby the US military presence at the base became permanent, also allowing the installation of a base for possible military interventions in Africa, as well as up to 2,200 soldiers, 500 American civilians and parking of 26 aircrafts.

    In the summer of 2016, the Air Base of Morón de la Frontera made headlines for receiving the then, President Obama, who made a visit to both bases of Morón and Rota to consolidate strategic alliances in the face of new threats.

    The Military Air Base is located north west of Morón de la Frontera.

    I've been to Rota 7-8 times (twice per med cruise, incoming and out going) :D even got one of my Tats there :D We used to call the local money "potatos" (pesatas) don't ask me why lol. To be honest my favorite Port in spain was Benedorm... was there over a week once and even remember a few days worth of my time there (that's a big thing for a sailor lol)

    Thanks for that info. As an Air Force veteran that was at Torrejon in the 60s (helped locate the missing nuclear bomb in the Mediterranean) I certainly didn't take any collectible coins with me. LOL

    The US is very good at exporting culture.

    Humans are not that different after all, we just like to focus on our disagreements.
