Gold or Silver, you hope to get one? 75th Anniversary privy mark for a crazy amount of money, sounds interesting! How bout you, you gonna try to get one? I may try to get a Silver but that would be it for me! Gold or Silver? The sale is 11/5, the Gold is one ounce, too much moola for this man how bout you?

I collect for historical rarity rather than a manufactured rarity.

I want one but damned if i'll pay that for less then a 69-70

 

I would like to get one of each, but I'm afraid that even if I manage to get both in my basket, by the time I check out one or both will be gone. So I think I will just go for the silver.

 

The only reason for me to get the gold would be to sell and finance my collecting for many months. The silver I would keep and display. I think it will be one of the most treasured coins in my US collection.

 

Don't try to get both at once, go for the gold and then do a second purchase for the silver. The gold will probably be sold out in les than 2 minutes so if you pick up the silver first the gold will be goneby the time you try to put it in your basket. If you get the gold in your basket and then go for the silver the gold will be sold out before you get through sheckout. So try for the gold and if you can get it in your basket IMMEDIATELY check out and hope it is still there, then go back for the silver because it will last on sale longer. Not real long, but longer.

 

Does anyone know the price of the gold one? It is showing N/A

edit: I found it, at this mkt for gold it will be $2440. That's a lot...

 

Brilliant move by the mint putting both coins on sale at the same time. Shouldn't be any bandwidth issues, right?

 

It's ridiculous. But the flip price will be three or four times as ridiculous. Manufactured rarities are still rarities.

 

Just what might the flip price be for the gold version say one day later on ebay that would warrant the mint purchase price?

 

Presales are being offered at $7K to $10K, and higher.

There was one that presold at $4950. I'm betting that sale won't be honored. The other completed presales have been $6500 and up. (There was one listed for $6499 that accepted a Best Offer, and the tools I once used to check actual BO sale prices don't work any more, I think.)

 

Limited issue is going to be hard to get either way in my opinion. I'll try my luck!

Yep, crazy price for sure! It would have been nice if they offered smaller gold coins, like something I could comfortably afford. If they don't sell well, which you know they will, on 11/9 there's another sale!!

Reminds me of the run on banks in the 30s. Everyone goes crazy at first and then things settle down. I'll pass on the crowds.

 

there's a problem with that theory, and that is they are currently selling the non-V75 gold proof eagle for $2,575.00 and I'll just assume, this will be that price plus whatever markup on top of that, $50.00 or $100.00 or whatever.

Where did you get $2440 from?

The mint publishes a pricing guide here that's based upon the average* price of gold. It appears they plan on selling the privy marked AGE for the same price as the unmarked AGE.

*They explain how to calculate this average but I didn't bother.
