It looks like an S to me, but I don't understand the attitude the op is showing. If he knows nothing about coins he needs to listen.
Why do yall say its ugly the coin is virtually flawless it has smudges on it but only because we don't clean our coins. How much would a 1983 d business strike lincoln in ms 68 or ms 69 sell for??
Way, an MS 68 Zincoln is a rare bird indeed. A 69, extraordinary Even a proof Zincoln is unlikely to be a 69 unless it can be stored in a vacuum. The plating is 100% copper, corrodes readily in normal conditions on earth. And the zinc core self destructs in even 10% humidity like a desert environment
So yall think im not knowledgeable enough to tell the difference between a S and a damaged D on a flawless coin that my brother has had since we were little. Didnt your mother teach yall if you dont have nothing nice to say dont say nothing [edited]
Looks like an S to me. An impaired proof. The hairlines also seem consistent with the way a proof coin’s surfaces would look after getting slightly scuffed in circulation.
It's the elusive 1983/48 S/D fully copper almost proof Zincoln Cent . . . . . . Its worth . . . . . Z
The reason I posted is because of the 1948 behind the 1983 and thought to myself "well that's kind of unique I hadn't really heard of anyone finding anything like that, hmm seems like it would make it rare as well". What can I say I have trust issues. I do enjoy our conversations, I do read everything, I understand everything and I learn from everything yall post. I just have to prove yall wrong now but the work is done its just a waiting game now I believe. Ha ha thanks guys. I apologize for language it wasn't out of anger its just how I talk.
Well you can't prove something that is impossible. It's an expensive education. At least it's not my money.
Well it sounds like you sent this coin in. It will be an expensive lesson for you but hopefully you'll learn from it. You never did answer my question as to how something like this could have happened at the Mint.
