This is the area were this coin will not make Ms grade remember any signs of were puts a coin in the AU grade so the area I pointed out has some wear on the hairlines, and that will drop it form MS to AU grade, and there are alot of scratches on the field obverse my grade stands at AU58 maybe for the toning. Thanks for the close look Jazzcoins Joe, but I'm wondering what you think about this PCGS MS65 FBL Franklin. It looks to me like the area you circled in my picture is more detailed/less worn than the MS65, which therefore has no wear. What do you think? Thanks again.
for 6 bucks you couldn't have gone wrong at all there. What nice toning, and what they see as wear I see a blurry pic so I'm going to say it's MS-60
0 Well by the pics it's hard to say ,but it doe's look like the slabbed coin was over graded the hair area is so worn as i indicated in red ,an that's the focal area of the coin. I don't see how the toning will bring that coin up either the toning is ugly ,and an Unciculated coin suppose to have no signs of wear , yours doe's that;s why i would grade it and AU no MS grade . The reverse of the coin even if it;s full bell should not matter if the obverse of the coin is in AU condition the lower grade always gets the grade unfortunitly. Now by looking at the slabbed coin again I would also grade that AU grade , the toning has no bearing on the coin especially this toning I just don;t think they are bringing the grade up that much for that kind of toning or any toning tor that matter, on this coin an your coin ,it;s not logical to me when the coin is in AU condition You also have to realize ,not all graders are correct in determining the grades, maybe the ones that graded the slab coin had to much to drink that day. lol I guess when you have to go through all of the new ASE's that they go through every year, drinking is the only thing that will keep your sanity. However, I still believe that (as schroeder and GDJMSP stated) this is an MS Franklin, especially when compared to the ones that PCGS has slabbed. Thanks! -Peter
